| Hey guys, I'm pretty new to the no limit game and I'd like to have your opinions on a couple of questions. 1) What bankroll considerations would you suggest? (what would be comparable to the 300 big bet bankroll in limit holdem) Obviously, a no limit game with .50/1.00 blinds is a much bigger game than a 1/2 limit game. 2) At the no limit tables where there is a maximum buy-in; when you become the chip leader how do you suggest altering your play or do you alter your play. Thanks in advance for your input. | ||

| a 300 BB bank roll for limit is the max amount that you should need to overcome a short-run string of "bad luck". however, you would never, ever, ever see someone roll into the taj mahal with $1200 in chips to play at the 2/4 tables. usually 100 with a spare 100 in cash if you need it is good enough. as for no-limit, every on-line NL game i have ever seen has a max buy in of 100 BB's. | ||

| In no limit, the limit is less significant than the buy in. For instance if you were playing with $0.10 - $0.20 blinds, but players sat down with $1000 and were throwing their money around like drunken sailors, this would be a wonderful game, but would require a very good bankroll. I think that 15 buy-ins is a reasonable roll for NL. So if you're playing a game where everybody buys for $100 (say blinds are 1-2), $1500 in your roll should be sufficient. However, NL is a strange game. It is very possible to buy in and lose it all in one hand, buy in again and lose it all in the next hand. I think you really need to adjust this number based on your opponents and based on your own play. If you play very agressively (Brunsonesque) then you'll need a bigger roll. But 15 buy-ins should be ok in most situations. | ||
