| I was in a tourney at a B&M. the structure was that the first 6 level are limit and then rounds 7 and after are NL. I am down to 2800. Blinds are 400/800. The next was coming in 3 minutes to go the 500/1000. I am in the big blind and I have t-6 offsuit. Two other people limp in and I check on my option. Flop comes 9-t-6 rainbow. I decided to go all in, get called by the guy in the SB with k-9 o. Needless to say, he drew out a king on the river and took the pot. Since he had me covered, I was eliminated from the tourney. My thinking when I went all in was as follows: 1) I am getting seriously short stacked and soon with start getting eatin alive by the blinds; 2) I have flopped 2 pairs including the top pair on the board, while there is still a str8 draw, they have to draw out to the str8 and any flush has to be runner, runner; and 3) if I am not called then I can get the other bets that were called in the pre-flop. I know I am asking a lot questions about the hands that I am loosing on this forum, however I want to make sure my thought process is right on some of these bad beats or if I am playing wrong to correct it. Was this the proper play in this situation, if not please let me know why. | ||

| Hi I like your thinking and think that your play was correct. I would have gone broke too :-). There are two kinds of problems...Those you can do something about and those you can't...Just make good decisions and roll the dice.....That's the nature of the poker game! Roy Cooke on 26. | Hey spawgan, I liked your play. The player who went all-in with you is an idiot. Besides the fact that you could have flopped the straight, he had to figure you for a strong hand (or a bluff). Regardless, he got lucky on the river and you can't fault your play for that. | ||
