All In Problem
Game type : Texas Holdem 2$-4$ limit
------------------------------------
While betting in a poker hand a player X is left with amount which is not even enough to call previous bet. As far as I understand about All In, Player X should either fold his hand or can put whole amount into the pot (ALL IN) and wait for winner declaration.

My questiions are

Q1.What minimum amount is required for Player X to go for All In. Is there any amount possible to make player X eligible to use All in option other than Fold Hand?

Q2.Is there any maximum limit set for a player to use All In option so that beyond that limit player is not able to choose All In option? Please suggest me the best criteria to handle this?

Q3.Is there any kind of rule which enforces that a player, who has opted for All In during bet round, is liable to get only a part of total pot amount in case he is a winner? If so what criteria is used to distribute the partial pot amount to that player and what happens to remaining pot amount?

He put in what he has left up to the bet. All-in in Limit is when you have no chips left.

Q2.Is there any maximum limit set for a player to use All In option so that beyond that limit player is not able to choose All In option? Please suggest me the best criteria to handle this?

If he has 9 bucks left, and the call is $4. He may raise to $8 but he can not put his last $1 until the next betting round, unless he is re-raised.

Q3.Is there any kind of rule which enforces that a player, who has opted for All In during bet round, is liable to get only a part of total pot amount in case he is a winner? If so what criteria is used to distribute the partial pot amount to that player and what happens to remaining pot amount?

If the call is $8 and the player has $5 then if it is just 2 players then the bettor gets his $3 back and then all the cards are drawn. If there are 3 players then $5 goes into the main pot and $3 goes into a side pot between the other 2 players AND $3 is taken out of the main pot if the previous player called the $8 bet. So if the 2 other player continue to bet, all this will go into the side pot. You can not win more than you have called into to. Meaning you must have called the minimum amount to be eligible to win the other players chips, otherwise a side pot is formed.

I have seen up to 4 side pots in a game. It makes it hard for the dealer.

Hope this helps.

I don't believe this is correct. You can bet all $9 in this situation.

No, if it's structured limit, then he can only raise the structured amount. He can't go all-in for the last dollar unless he's re-rased. Then he can call $1 of the reraise.

Thanks Moz. I think I got confused on Slates response. Of course you can't bet more than $4 on the limit game. I was thinking that it wa $8 to him and Slate was saying that he could not raise because he didn't have another $4.
