Can anyone explain what "1/2 Kill Pots" are?
I'm looking at a 4-8 Hold'Em game with a 1/2 Kill Pot and I'm not getting it. Please help.

There was recently a big discussion regarding Kill pot play. That was kind of high-level though, so I will give you a basic for the most common kill games:

Commonly, in a Kill game, whenever one player wins two pots in a row that are a minimum on ten times the size of the small bet (so, in a 3/6 game, the two pots would have to be $30 or more each), then the very next hand doubles in stakes (becomes 6/12, in my example). The killer, has to post a live blind for the new stakes (in my example, $6).

Now, you are actually asking about 1/2 kill. I've never played a 1/2 kill game, so I assume (correct me if I'm wrong) that the stakes go up by 1/2, instead of doubling. So if the game is 2/4, then the half-kill would make it 3/6.

Hope this helps, and take a look back over the last week to find the thread on Kill strategy. It's a really good one.

Moz,

Thanks for the quick explain - I'll check for last weeks discussion.
In the game I was watching was 4-8 and the"1/2 Kill" would bump it up to 6-12. So, it sounds like you where right on.

Thanks again.
