I'd like opinions on whether this hand was played correctly (both by me and by my opponent). We're about 15 hands into heads up play, final table 2-table NL SnG. Blinds are 400/800. Chips are almost even at about T15,000 each. My impression of opponent is that he's a pretty good player, but not great. Made some mistakes at final table (as did I) but nothing truly wacky.

I'm BB, dealt Ac7s. SB raises 800. I reraise another 800. He calls. Flop comes Ah6dKc. Opponent checks. I bet 1,500. Opponent calls. Turn comes 6c. Opponent bets 1,000. I raise all-in.

(Why? you may ask. b/c the pair on the board makes my weak kicker irrelevant; if opponent has Ax (other than A6 or AK), it's a split pot. He can beat me only with AK, AA, KK, 6x or if he's drawing to an unlikely backdoor flush or straight).

Opponent calls and turns over KhTh. My AA66K beats his KK66T.

Heads up play is very psychological. I think it would be hard for anyone to say whether you played it right or wrong without watching you guys play. It would definately have been hard to put him on 6x since he raised pre-flop. So you probably made a good call. And you won, so even better!

Hi MK,

I like your reasoning.

I'm no tourney expert, but I like the way you played it. Your reasoning was sound, and I think you made the right moves at the right times.

I think your opponent did well too, he obviously put you on Aces, and thought he had you when he drew 2-pair. I probably would have thought the same thing, and I would have seen you all-in as despiration to protect your aces, and would have called as easily with his hand.
