| Would anyone be interested in joining me to develop a poker website? I would design the site and would need people to add content (articles, advice, etc.) We could rate online card rooms as well as B&M. It would be a place where people could truly go for poker knowledge. This would be for fun and I would only do it if I had enough interest from you guys (and gals). All and any ideas would be considered. Obviously, there are a ton of poker websites out there dealing with poker. As I said, this would just be for fun and something for everyone here to contribute to if they wished. What do you think? Anyone interested? | ||

I've owned my own marketing company for 3 years and am moderately competent at web design. Thanks for your kind words. It's nice to know that there are always people in the world who are determined to ruin your day. | ||

| Yeah i think the difference is though Takeyourmoney is that Slick probably has a lot better social skills than you and therefore people will probably help him along and it will get somewhere. Not to mention, from the looks of his marketing company, a good sense of buisness acumen and the desire to get what he wants done. PS Slick if you ever need more employees i am looking for work in the States next year... :) on 24. Jul 2003 10:09 takeyourmoney wrote: > Uh ohhh. Another web designer wanna be. | Hey Big, Sounds like a great idea I would certainly be willing to write and submit a couple of pages. I am not to hot at html and I guess that you would want to standardize the page layouts anyhow, but I think that I would enjoy writing some text. Snorbolus on 24. | Don & Snorbolus, Thanks for your interest! The most difficult first step will be coming up with a good domain name. We will want something that is short but rememberable. Obviously, the best domains names are already taken so we might need to be a little creative. Anyone can go to www.netsol.com and enter in domain names. You will be told if your selection is available or already taken. Also, I will flip the bill for any costs. However, I thought that we would have a section pertaining to Online Poker sites. Any money that is made through referrals would be used to pay for the maintenance (domain name and hosting fees). I thought we could use any left over money and put it towards a UPF tourney(s). | ||

| HELLO!!! Don't we have a forum? Why create another site and risk splitting the group up. Just so you can say you did it? I don' t see myself jumping between sites just to keep up. Not that "I" matter, but think about should-you-do-this, not could-you-do-this. There is obviously something in it for someone here, and as post-ers to each site, there's no good that can come of this. Good luck in your endeavors. Your posts here have just become SPAM, identical to any other solicitor. (a bit more harsh than I intended, but to the point) | ||

| Read the whole post before you respond I created that site BEFORE I ran into UPF. That is the WHOLE reason I am donating the space to a new poker website we are creating. I am letting Big Slick and whoever delete anything on my space, and upload ANYTHING they want. That is going to be my contribution to UPF. And by the way, I almost never SPAM on UPF. I have been an active poster since I ran into this site. SO next time, read the WHOLE post before you say ANYTHING. Mike | ||

| Hey Risky, I'm not looking to split anything up. I have to disagree with your "no good can come of this" comment. First of all, there will be a link to the UPF forum because I think this is a great site. If anything, our project will help UPF. Secondly, there is a world full of poker players out there that search for information on the web. I think that there are many knowledgeable people here that could help contribute to their game. Thirdly, like the UPF tourney, I thought this would be a cool way to get to know some more people and bring us together as a community. Fourth, I thought it would just be fun. Fifth, I'm complimented that you think that this site could be a big enough success that it would distract from this web site (though that is far from the truth.) Sixth, the UPF web site is a forum.. I'm looking to build a site that based around articles and other poker knowledge. The site will not be based around discussion boards. Your posts here have just become SPAM, identical to any other solicitor. That comment is so ridiculous that I'm not going to even address it. | ||

| I don't know who to respond to............ I responded to Mike's post........but meant to address B_S original post, so it looks like I got both of you with my reply. Mike812 - I've never had a problem with your signature being a website, or any of your posts, forge ahead. B_S - I took your original post to be that of "let's jump ship and hall balls to MY new site". However, if your intent is NOT to create a forum, but more of a newspaper/newsletter packed primarily with articles and the occasional editorial, I think that's great and would be happy to contribute in any way you need me to. Here's my first suggestion: Have readers and writers alike submit to you, the editor, bad beat stories. You would choose a few each month and post them. The readers and writers would read them all (maybe 5 per month), and vote on who took the worst beat. The winner would get.....(something). | ||

| I think this BS's idea is great. When I first started trying to find info on poker I had to go to 10 different sites to get all the info I wanted. We can combine alot of that information along with links to other sites all in one place. No more looking all over God's creation. I really like the idea of having write-ups on all the different B&Ms. You can have a drop down list of all the States or Foreign terriroties. Then the page could list all of the casinos in those States. Then you could click on one of the casinos and see all of the different reviews submitted by other players. Even have a place where you can sumbit a review for that casino or add a new casino. You could also do book reviews. If you were willing to update it constantly you could do the TV listing thing that Easy does for us. Can we have a link on there to my new hobby... CASINO CHIP COLLECTING!! :) Of course there would be the meat and potatos columns on gameplay and strategy. Have some great bad beat stories. Rating the online sites would be HUGE! Those questions are asked about every week on the forum. Question is how would we rate them? Maybe you could have a sheet with a list of all the online sites. About 5 - 10 criteria that you rate from poor to excellent and then a comment section. People could compare the sites on those criteria and view the comments. And of course you need a humor section. Maybe some poker related comics. Maybe even a crossword. Ex: 1 Down - An Ace and a King dealt to a player in Hold Em A: Big Slick Just look through the UPF for those recurring items and BAM there is some more content. Good luck with it guys. I'll help out if I can. But I also know too many cooks ... TKarrde "The next best thing to playing and winning, is playing and losing." | ||

| I don't care if there are ads or not. I got the impression that Big Slick was hopeing to generate and use some ad revenue to defray the cost of posting the site. It seems a bit rough to expect him to do most of the work maintaining the site and to suck up all the costs of keeping it up too. Snorbolus on 24. | Hey Stdioh, I was going to have a link that reviewed online sites. I figured that we would set up referral programs to cover the costs of the site. Any remaining revenue would go to UPF-ers to be vied for in a poker tourney(s). I think that is fair and reasonable. Moreover, I'm not looking to copyright anyones writing. Proper credit and ownership would be listed as such. | ||

| I think this is a good idea, as long as the website doesn't contain content that'll cause competition with UPF (mainly, message boards). The following is a list of features that, IMO, might be good to have on the new site (some of these have been mentioned already): - book reviews - casino listings/reviews - trip reports - links to other good poker sites - bios - ratings of online sites - UPF player ratings (based on results of our UPF-only tourneys) - UPF tournament result histories - WPT reviews Cool idea BS! | ||
