Flopped four aces and lost...no joke., SendMoney, 22. Jul 2003 10:16

Well it didn't happen to me but I witnessed this hand at a 4-8 Hold Em table at Binion's Horseshoe in Vegas last weekend. It's basically one middle position player who calls, table folds to the Big Blind who raises, MP calls the raise. Flop comes AhAdKh, big blind checks, MP bets, BB calls. Turn brings 2c, BB checks, MP bets, BB raises, MP calls. River brings 10h, BB bets, MP raises, BB re-raises, MP re-raises, BB re-raises, MP re-raises, BB goes all in with final 5 dollars. BB turns over AcAs for four aces on the flop, MP turns over QhJh for a royal flush on the river. Binion's Horseshoe does not offer a bad beat jackpot. BB stormed out of the establishment. The winning MP player actually left about 3 hands later as well. And you thought you had a bad beat? I wouldn't believe it if I hadn't seen it.

Losing to a one-outer after flopping quads sucks!

Yeah, too bad Binion's doesn't have a bad beat jackpot.....you would've got a nice piece of the prize:)

Yup. I've known a lot of people who have claimed that has happened to them. I'm sure that it must've happened to some of them. I've flopped quad aces enough times that I've faced a reasonable chance of this happening. Especially when you think of the fact that you always have a 2 aces on board to make a royal so now it comes down to getting exactly 4 of these or 4 of those. Players often play suited big cards and nothing stops 4 cards of a royal from hitting the board either.

To be beat with both cards in the opponent's hand is pretty rough though.

In Super System, Doyle tells of a game (in Atlantic City I think). No limit hold'em. He said that for 2 months straight, day and night, there was not less than 1 million dollars in play on the table, and the same thing happened -quad aces beaten by a royal flush!

I think losing a couple hundred thousand with 4 aces would qualify as a bad beat.
