| For those of you who remember any of my earlier posts, I'm interested in starting in online gambling... I hear soooo many stories about maniacs at the lower limits and I was wondering if I should just start out at 10/20 games or something of the like just because I don't want to be playing against people who call/raise with absolutely nothing all the time... I don't have a huge bankroll or anything and if I had a choice I'd want to play 3/6 or 2/4... but it just seems like playing good, solid poker (the kind that you guys talk about on here and other sites) is more beneficial at higher stakes... while at the lower end you need more luck. Thoughts? | ||

| It is much easier to make money off of idiots than off of solid players. Yes, you'll get more bad beats, but they will pay you off in the long run. Moving up in limits is always dangerous and you should be sure that you can beat a limit before you play it. | ||

| Hey cheese, Trust me....you will see maniacs and players that have no clue at all in the higher limit games, too...even $10-20, $15-30 and $20-40. If you're bankroll isn't sufficient enough to withstand a number of losses, then you're probably going to have a hard time staying afloat. And while there are very poor players at the higher limits, there are also alot of pros, too....so make sure your game is solid and that the limits are not intimidating to you either. You should play in a limit where you feel comfortable and can still make the correct plays that you need to make while not playing scared poker. I would suggest that you play in games where you were much better than your opponents, and where your bankroll is suited to play. And Only you know what limit well best suit that, so make a smart choice and your results will be better. Good luck out there. 4 POKER | ||

| Good. I hope nobody misinterprets that last one. I really shouldn't be posting such vulgarity on here, but it just got to be too much. | ||

Yeah, he was way out of line to you stdioh and I was about to tell you to take a breather for a moment, but then I noticed that all of OLC's posts were deleted anyway so.....but nonetheless, it did look like you were telling *me* to Eat xxxxxxxx! (LOL). But no worries...I knew who you were talking to.

| Hey OnlineChamp, If you don't have anything to offer, then why bother. And due to the fact that stdioh's post *and* yours was pulled off the message board, I will say it on this post: How dare you show disrespect to someone who spent time on writing a post and was only trying to be helpful. Here he is talking about hold-em with a kill- advanced strategy, and you respond by saying, "forget hold-em, I love Omaha"? Get a life buddy. | ||

There's just an occasional spam poster that came on here before and posted up about 5 or 6 comments to peoples responses and one of them was to stdioh that I found to be a slap in the face and that's who I was referring to, but all of his responses got pulled off the message board. His name is Onlinechamp, but pay no mind to him, he's a goofball. And that For Love of Pete's Sake response of stdiohs was meant for him, not me....even though it may look that way:(

Now, HOW exactly would you determine THAT? I assume you're trying to say that you shouldn't jump willy-nilly into a higher limit than you're used to playing (and your bankroll will support). I would test the waters- watch some of the games, get a feel for what a good game at the higher limit would be to start in, and then dip in your toe with a session or two. DON'T be afraid to move back down if the heat is too much. Study some more and build up your bankroll and try again... Caution is warranted- fear is not.

| Ugh...you know what I mean. Dip a toe in, play the high limit only when you are sure that it is really soft until you get a feel for the game and the players. | ||

| All of the moves you see at the lower limits you will see at the higher limits as well. The difference is that at the lower limits they are many times made at the wrong times while at the higher limits they are more often made at the right times. Better to learn how to recognize and handle them at the lower limits where they won't hurt you as bad. imo | ||

| All the casinos have different limits that play better than others. The online games are tougher to pick because they have many more players that come and go. Try all the different limits until you find one that works good. In the live casino I have seen all kinds of fishes and bad players at all levels. I have found I could make the most at 4-8 Holdem at one particular casino. But on other days I could make more at 6-12. I have played up to 40-80 and this is my deduction of a particular casino 3-6 Everyone usually calls and no one really folds. If you play tight you better get a magazine because the hands are 9 handed and you will be waiting. 4-8 A little higher caliber player. A player looking to move up from 3-6 and plays tight. Good players can make good money. 6-12 You get these retired guys with good bank rolls that tend to call allot of hands. They know how to play but they will raise with weak cards and you have to have the bank roll to flow with these fluctuations. 10-20 Tight players, seems they saved enough to get here and do not want to blow it. Pretty good play. 40-80 Always the same guys and you can get trapped by them. They sense new blood and they will team up on the new guy. Again this is just my deduction of one casino on the average day. Just an idea of how each game can be different at different places. Try them all and see what you find is the best. And don't get trapped in a table. Leave for another one. | ||
