Just wanted to post my pathetic results from a small poker tournament that I hosted last night.

Had 12 people with top three finishes 50/30/20. I also threw in a UB hat and a Binions $5 Brenes chip with key chain for the 1st and 2nd place to choose from. Used my normal UB tournament as a guide. Everyone with T1000 and 5/10 blinds.

For the most part I got NO cards all night. It was so sad. I got AKs early on. With blinds at 5 I bet 50 preflop. With this generally loose bunch I got a couple callers. Board was something like 456. Get checked to and I bet another 50 to see where I was at. Got one caller. A 7 shows on the board and the player ahead of me gos all-in. Laid them down.

I might have gotten a med-low pair or two. But nothing all night. Stole a couple blinds. My big mistake came in a hand where I had a flush draw which ended up with 3 nines on the board at the river. We had pretty much just checked it back and forth until the river. Then I decide to bet 700 with 50/100 blinds. I had nothing, but really thought the guy could be bluffed off the pot. I swear he took like 3 entire minutes to think about it. And try and stare me down. (I think he had been watching too much WPO!) Finally he calls me. Shows KQ to win with the best kicker. Cut me in half.

I played tight on the bubble (4 players) until I was about blinded out at 200/400 blinds. On the BB with 440 chips I go all-in without even looking at the cards. Get one caller. He shows A8 I show K3. Ouch! An 8 hits the flop. Then it hits. A pretty K on the turn. Playing dealer I really take my time with the last card to build momentum. Eight. Oh the humanity!

Anyway we all had a GREAT time. It was so much fun. And surprisingly very very competitive. After we got rid of a couple gamblers it was good playing from then on out. I was shocked.

BTW... winning hand for the night... 96o. LOL

Next time.

TK

Well I live in NYC TK, so playing against you at UB will have to suffice.

Sounds like a blast though.

TK, thanks, I would love to play if my old back isnt acting up too bad at that time. I drove 110 mile roundtrip today to have lunch with my stepdaughter and her family at Grey Brothers Cafeteria in Bloomington. This is the same Grey family that owns and operates that great eatery in Moorsville. If anyone is ever going through Bloomington, the Cafe is located just off HIghway 37 on Hiway 45 just past the WalMart store.

A Snyder, I think you are the gent from the Northern "burbs of Indy, are you not? I think I have played at your table a couple of times in the past.

Keep us advised, TK, of when and where. I would love to play if I can make it.

Come on guys... You aren't from Central Indiana. Us southern folk think Northern Indiana starts somewhere between Bloomington and Indy! LOL

Ok... NQP.
