| I just wanted to let everyone know how much i enjoyed reading Roy's Real Poker II. I am acquiring quite a collection of poker books and think Roy's book is amoung the best. Along with being full of great hand reading information and explaing Roy's thought process, it is just a great read. I find so many of the books have dry sections, but no this book, it was great. I plan on getting Roy's other books, ( when is his new one going to be released). I was very surprised at its lack of advertising and exposure. I've only heard it mentioned here once (when i specifically asked about it a couple of months ago) but it is one of the best. (Amarillo Slim mentions it amoung his short list of suggested reading materials) Keep up the good work Roy Mark | ||

| I think Roy has done very well with his columns and the books of his column, but what I would love to see out of him is a book of hand histories. Basically, if his whole book was "hands I have played and what I was thinking," I would definitely buy it. Not constant repetition of his little formula (which is good but I get tired of reading that the chance of making the hand times the money you get out blah blah blah) but just, "In this hand I was in this position and got these cards. This player fit such and such a stereotype and that player was this kind of person, etc" ... then talk the hand through and why certain decisions were made. Call it something like, "Advanced ring game strategy as hands I have played," put it up for sale, and I'm all over that. | ||

| No kidding. *egg slides off face* I was under the impression that your books were just anthologies of your column (and I've read all of your columns that I could get my hands on). Upon googling it, I see that your second book is exactly that. Now I'll have to go and procure myself a copy. | ||

| Wow...and at under $20 it looks like a real damn hell bargain. I'm surprised it isn't more. The added bonus of me getting it will be that I might just get Wren off my back a little about contributing my fair share to our poker library :) | ||

| I was under the impression that Real Poker II was just an upgrade from RPI... was I misinformed? I just finished my first reading of RP II. I generally enjoyed it, but it sounds as if I need to get TPOH to get a bigger variety of hands to analyze. In addition, Roy, if you ever do upgrade these books (RP III?) edit heavily the starting/ending sections where you talk about your general strategy concepts, maximizing value, etc. It became tedious enough to reread this over and over (since these were columns, not chapters in a book) that I started skipping portions. Unless it is integral to the immediate discussion, as opposed to a separate chapter that you could write to fully cover these topics, I would cut out a lot of that. Just a thought | ||
