| Studies show that the British play poker to redeem themselves from the embarrassing defeat in the War of American Independence. "Those Yanks aren't so tough," said chasepoker, playing under the pseudonym 'Banter'. "I mean, they just folded their cards and said, 'Here. Have my money.'" Some of the so-called Yanks, saw the action at last nights UPF No Limit Hold 'Em tournament a little bit differently. "Chasepoker is nothing but a bully," complains former champion Beigs. "He just sat around for the first hour and waited for the button, then he'd raise me and (Paul)Stine off our blinds. That's not poker. That's bullying." Hollywood home game legend and World Poker Tour color commentator Vince Van Patten offered his view on the brewing battle of the Atlantic, "Chasepoker did nothing wrong. Betting is the name of this game. If you are afraid to bet, move to England!" The irony, as usual, was lost on Vince. "Whatever," Beigs continues to lament. "It's only one tournament. Chase was lucky I never had a hand when I was on my blind. I'll get him back. And if he ever spells 'analyze' with an 's' again, I'm going to reach through my computer and remind that the sun DOES set on the British Empire!" Asked if he was disappointed that a Canadian eventually won the tournament and layed claim to the throne as UPF champion, "No. I have nothing against America's Largest National Park. They're nice. And they gave us Bryan Adams and Celine Dion. They can't be all bad." Congrats, Wren. And good game all. Beigs. "I will have my vengeance. In this life or the next!" | ||

| Speaking of bullies......how 'bout our champ! Make me feel a bit better Wren...when you said "I caught (888) on the turn", with J-Q-rag showing after the flop, did you really? I had pocket 10's.......which busted me out of a tourney this weekend, and Tuesday night, so I let my last chance at chipping up go down the drain.........to your turn 8's. Just lie either way and tell me you had QQ. | ||

| Ok. I had QQ. Errr....errrr.... I hate lying! Lemme just say one thing: Every time I told the table my hand, I was telling the truth EXCEPT for one time. And, I believe, I showed my hand that time :O) | ||

| Yup. And it was called by K7. And everybody went on about honesty of the drunk. I must admit that at that point I had returned home and was watching over Wren's shoulder. I was the one that prompted her to say 99 when she bluffed in on the next hand and folded off a superior holding. | ||

| At that point I think we were about to believe anything Wren said. Someone else also had a good one. After being dealt AK and showing (or playing it out) they got AK again. After their raise they said "AK again". Everyone folded and he showed AK. TKarrde "The next best thing to playing and winning, is playing and losing." | ||

I think it was me who both called Wrens AK with my K7 and also showed the AK twice last night ! Interesting thing about NL is that sometimes if you are a large stack against a smaller all in stack i think it becomes quite correct to call with a lot of hands, as you are often not that far behind ( only really in trouble to an over pair or if someone has your high card and better kicker like Wren did ) I think the chances for K7 vs AK are about 25% for the K7 does anyone have the hand history for that one just to see how far behind i was and what odds i was getting ? | This depends on how close to the money you are..... I actually couldn't disagree with this more when I play (although most of my experience is sit n go) When I'm sitting on 3,000 chips and an opponent is at 400/500 chips.... going from 3,000 to 3,500 means little to me at this point, the value of each chip to me is worth much less than the value of each chip to your opponent. This thought process is a mistake I think a lot of players make. (granted not an original idea, Caro says this on his audio lessons on cardplayer.com) So if the chips mean less to you than your opponent in value.... wouldn't it be safe to assume that for you to call his all in bet you have to be a significant favorite to make up for this? If this is true.... the thought that you can call all in with a more marginal hand is the complete opposite of this. Now granted... you have to consider the player, the blinds, how much more it is for you to call, etc, how close you are to the money, how much eliminating that player helps you , etc. but in general I see a lot of people call all in bets that I would consider mistakes. | ||
