Raise Bet ! ( Limit Games ), mandeep, 18. Jul 2003 03:53

I am facing problem with setting raise amount for any player when its his turn to bet. I understand how to control the maximum limits of raise but what should be the minimum raiseable amount in a hand and what are the in between values (increment value), ranging from minimum to maximum raiseable amount, which are possible to raise the bet.

Consider following case:

Case 1: (TEXAS HOLDEM)
Fixed limit game (2$-4$)
First bet round starts:
Player 1 can only bet 2$ (to call high blind bet) or Fold his hand.
[Problem: Can't he raise being the first player in first bet round as well as succeeding rounds in current games?]

Now If Player 1 bets for 2$
Player 2 gets the bet and he wants to raise :in that case
Player 2 understands that he can RAISE the bet upto maximum 2$ in current round but
What is the MINIMUM bet limit he can add to raise the bet, and what intervals of raiseable amount needs to be set between minimum raiseable amount and maximum raiseable amount, if Player2 wants to raise bet with value between Minimum and maximum raise limit ?

Case 2:
Problem :Kindly reconsider the above problems in another game with Fixed limits set on (0.50$-1$).

Thanks in anticipation.

Well, the answer to this depends really on whether you want to play a structured limit game or a spread limit game. In a structured limit game of 2/4, you would have blinds of $1 and $2 and anyone who wanted to be in the pot pre-flop would have to call $2 (other than the SB who can "complete" and call $1. If someone should want to raise the pot pre-flop or on the flop, it is to be in increments of $2. So, an initial raiser of the $2 blind would bet $4, and if someone were to want to re-raise, they would bet $6. On the turn and river cards, the initial bet would be $4 with raises in increments of $4 (raise to $8, then to $12, and so on). The same would apply to the $0.50/$1 game except blinds would be $0.25 and $0.50 and raises would be in increments of $0.50 for pre-flop and flop, and $1 for the turn and river.

A spread limit game would allow a player to bet and or raise within a certain range that is specified before the play of the hand/game. So for example, a common form of this would be $1-$5 stud, where at any time a player can bet and/or raise anywhere in-between thoise numbers.

I hope this helps.

The Las Vegas Flamingo has an AWESOME 2-4-8-8 Spead limit Holm'em game. If you are a strong unstrucutred player, this is a very good game!

2-4 texas hold'em is not spread limit, it is fixed limit. On the preflop and flop the limit is $2 and on the turn and river, the limit is $4.

At any point a player can fold, call, or raise, or check/bet if it hasn't been opened. You only lose your ability to raise when the hand is capped. A cap is usually 4 or 5 bets and generally hands can be raised indefinitely if there are only 2 players left in the hand.
