| I am looking to build a casino style poker table and was wondering if anyone knew of a website with plans or instructions on how to do this. Any reply is appreciated. | ||

| I've built one myself and it isn't hard. All it takes is some rudimentary carpentry skills and some common sense. I'll breifly describe an easy way to do it. First, go to a big box store like Home Depot. Buy a sheet of chip board (cheaper than plywood and just as good for these purposes), a set of folding metal table legs, and some scrap 2X6 out of the $1 bin. Get a box of 2(1/4)" screws and a box of 1" screws. Now you're going to cut your particle board into an oval, so take a string and a felt pen, position the string 2' in (middle) and 2' from the end and draw an arc. Do the same on the other side. Now cut along your line and make your oval. When I did this I started with the chip board sliced lengthwise down the middle so I could fit it into my rice rocket and it is easier to cut. I just joined it along the bottom with the scrap wood. Anyhow, you now screw in 2x6's on the bottom and screw your folding metal table legs into those. Now go to a carpet place and pick up some underpad. You'll have a wide variety to chose from. I go for some that is water resistant, thin, and only a little spongy. Go to a mill ends store and buy cloth for the top (I used army truck camouflage for mine and it looks great). Lay the underpad down on the floor, put the table over it, and bend it around the edge, slicing it to fit and stapling it with a staple gun to the bottom of the table. When you are done, do the same with the cloth (though you won't need to cut it, just fold it and staple. You're done. Now if you want to add a vinyl rail to the table, a chip tray, a drop box, or anything else, it is a really easy modification. All you have to do is cut and peel the cloth, cut a hole in the table, and inset your stuff. Total time it took me: 3 hours, including running around to stores. Total cost: well under $100 CDN. | ||
