Low stakes Omaha in Los Angeles, Robert Watson, 16. Jul 2003 10:44

Opinions on the best card room in the Los Angeles area (the closer the better) for low limit poker? Mostly interested in playing Omaha, but any advice is appreciated. Haven't played in a while, and want to practice with the lowest stakes possible.

Hey Robert,

They've got some incredible Omaha games at the Commerce Casino (in Commerce, CA) and the Bike, both near the LA area, but I'm not sure what limit you'd feel comfortable playing. Give them a call and ask them what limits they normally spread at the lower limits in which you'd prefer. I have noticed some pretty hefty pots even in the lower limit Omaha games. (the lowest may be $1-2, but I'm really not sure).

Good luck.

My pleasure. I hope you find the game/limit that you're looking for. California is such a great place to play poker. There are some people on this forum who live in California who might be able to give you even more info than me.....hopefully they will respond with some good stuff for you.

Take care, and if this was your first time on the UPF, then "Welcome". (but if you have posted before, then I'll just chalk that up to me being old with a poor memory for names)! LOL

I play mostly at Hollywood Park, which has LL Omaha going most of the time (but I can't really comment on the texture of the games, as I'm usually playing hold 'em). Commerce and Bicycle Club are bigger.

In sum, you'll never have trouble finding a game...

Casino's in So Cal ...

Commerce Casino (In Commerce of the 5 Freeway)
Bicycle Club Casino (in Bell Gardens on the 710 Freeway)
Hustler Casino (In Redondo Beach)
Crystal Park Casino Hotel (In Compton on the 91 Freeway)
Hollywood Park Casino (in Inglewood by the Forum)

They are all listed on Cardplayer.com. You can get their numbers to call and check the lowest limits Omaha they have. I don't remember seeing anything smaller than $1-$2 in any of the casino's. Usually, you have to go on-line for the "micro" limits.

Good Luck ...
