| I'm having trouble negotiating the 15 minute span that most online NL tournaments give you before they increase the blinds.It doesn't seem that I have enough time to play solid poker without becoming shortstacked.This doesn't always happen as I sometimes catch cards early ,but generally 3/4 of the field is gone and I'm approaching desperation mode.I'm a very aggessive player late in tournaments but am becoming frustrated because I cant seem to get to the late stages with a big enough arsenal to outplay some of the lucky stacks. Is there anybody having good success at these tournaments that could expand on their strategy. | ||

| Well, the quicker the tourney, the more crapshooty it becomes. In general, you'll be shortstacked, and in general you will bust out early. One thing to remember is that you don't need to get desperate right away. Since in no limit you can wait for the right moment and then double through as long as you're not in immediate danger of being blinded out you can wait a lot longer than you might think. For instance if the blinds at 50-100 and you're holding a stack of 600 chips, yes, you are in a position where you want to start playing more hands, but you're not totally desperate either. It is time to push all in with good hands preflop, hoping to either steal the blinds or get called, win a coin flip, and double through. If you didn't often get stuck into a tight position quickly through no fault of your own, these tournaments would take forever. | ||
