I think the number is about 4500-5000. At least that was what it was the other day (327 ring games and about 1500 playing tournaments). As you said, incredible increase recently. Good luck out there. Good luck out there. DJpoker Hey DJ---Bear in mind--those play money games are introducing the newbies to the game. After they have had their toe in the water for a bit, they will progress to the money games as indicated by several posters here who have done that very thing, myself included. I wanted to learn hold-em ( long time stud and lowball player ) without having to pay the tuition that comes with learning in money games. I played 1000s of hands for over a year, read the top books and was ready to start at low limit. The play money games are the feeder system not just for the online sites but for B& M casinos as well. I live in Las vegas and I can testify that the poker rooms here do a terrible job of creating new players Hopefully they will recognize the potential and do something about it. Gary

| Hey Gary, I totally agree with you. I was just saying that I'd love Party Poker break the numbers into 2 groups (play and real). It is incredible. I am wondering how much it costs to start a poker website. LOL DJpoker. | ||

I am wondering how much it costs to start a > poker website. LOL DJpoker. i went in today and scanned the site to determine if i could easily see the proportion of real money to play money. I could have made a count of all the games in each category, but that was pretty tedious, so I made an estimate by scanning down all the games including tournaments. There were 10,000 players at the time and it was roughly 60% real 40% play. When Party shut down all the play games for the Millions tournament, they also shut down the sitngos and still had 4500 + players. Other sites such as ultimate and paradise also have the same proportion much of the time so you could say the #s are comporable for all sites. Party will hit 11 to 12 thousand this weekend, I predict. Gary
