bankroll decision and log on issues, little h, 14. Jul 2003 20:38

Firstly, i'd just like to say that i really dig this site, and have made it my web page, but it seems i can't log on with the original name i registered with (littlehewy), and i can't get my password sent to me to confirm it, as the site tells me that there's an error in my email address, so i guess i'm now little h. If any of the staff read this and could look into this for me, i'd much rather log in as LittleHewy.

Anyway, back to my question. I've heard it said a lot that you should always keep a solid bankroll to allow for big downward swings, but i play low limit (50c games to $2 games) online, and in the last fortnight I have painstakingly built my account up from $50 to $200. I have a family which i support (not through poker... yet :) ) but as i am a student, we need all the spare cash we can get. I was thinking that once I reached $250 i would withdraw some of my winnings, but I'm not sure how much i should leave in my account. This problem is one that I'm sure i will have to deal with frequently in the future, as I am aspiring to move up limits as I can build my bankroll. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Little Hewy

As long as you stay at the limits that you posted (up to $1/$2), then leaving $200 online should be fine ASSUMING that you are one of the best players in the game in which you sit AND you never go on tilt AND you play smart aggressive poker all of the time. 100 big bets is plenty if you can adhere to all of the above, so maybe you withdraw $50 each time you get back to $250 and enjoy some of the spoils.

As for me, I prefer to keep 200 big bets online in the game that I play just from my experience in the swings that I have had. But, if you are dominating every time you sit down, 100 should be enough even through a bad run of cards.

Good luck.
