I *think* (emphasis on think) that I can beat most $4/$8 games .. that is, I have come away to the good in 23 of my last 25 sessions. (Before you get all impressed, my net in those sessions is only about $700, which is better than a kick in the pants, but not enough to make a living).

Question: is it time to move to $10/$20 games, or is the game that different at that slightly higher level?

What is your hourly rate? You are averaging $28 per session which is 3.5 BB's, so if your sessions are 3 hours or less, then you are doing well.

The "move up" decision is a personal one. If I were you, I would sit in a 10/20 game and play very tightly and see if you feel confident about it. Better yet, the next two times yoy go log on to play, just sit and watch the 10/20 game for those hours instead. My personal thought is that 10/20 is where you start to see some mid-level pro's play and also very solid amateurs. So, you will need to have (and be able to recognize) a lot more counter-strategy than you would at 4-8. Concepts like re-stealing that you rarely if ever see at 5-10 and below are more common at the higher levels.

Anyway, you have made a nice profit so you can afford to sit in a higher game and give it a shot. But, just remember that the players that you see won't be nearly as fishy and they will be stronger.

Hourly is probably not so good .. maybe about 3 hrs per session, so about $9/hour. Strictly prorated, I'd have to succeed at a $20/$40 table to make a $94,000 living. But I don't think the skill level is apples-to-apples between $4/$8 and $20/$40.

I guess your advice of playing very tight at $10/$20 is the best. Lose some $$ on the short run, but the experience would be invaluable.
