| Limping in with the nuts means that you know you have the absolute best hand, and you "limp" in without raising. This is a great strategy if you are 100% sure you have the best hand and no matter what other cards show up, you will still win. It milks more money out of other players, and even more money if the other players think they have the best hand when you really do www.pokeranon.com | ||

| thanks....that is absolutely NOT what I thought it meant LOL I thought it had something to do with limping into the end of the game hoping the river card saves you. Thanks! | ||

| This term doesn't really apply. Limping in means that you call the blinds preflop. If you had AA this would be the best possible hand for the board at the moment (since there is nothing on the board) and would thus be technically the current nuts. But if you want to use the term "stone cold nuts" it generally means a more or less eternal nuts. So for instance if you flop quads on a board of KK2, the only way you can lose if for somebody to make a backdoor straight flush. Essentially you could call your quads the "stone cold nuts" ... but flopping a nut straight on a board with a flush draw isn't stone nor cold. Certainly there is nothing stone cold about AA preflop and that is the only time that the term "limp" can be properly applied. | ||

| I'm pretty sure that poker is the only arena in which "limp cold nuts" can be said to another man without getting your arse kicked! I also always thought that there is need for another term for "lay-down". It's just too vanilla for me. Thoughts? | ||

| IMHO, stone cold nuts applies to ace-high flushes on the flop and higher. At least, I would bet it that way. | ||

| To "limp in" is what you do pre-flop. It means to just call one bet initially and not raise. If the limit is $3-6, than when you enter the pot pre-flop, you put in the $3. You are "limping in". The stone cold nuts hand in hold-em is A-A. The "stone cold nuts" means the best hand possible at that given time. Of course after you see the flop, turn, and river, the stone cold nuts will change depending on what's out there, but the stone cold nuts pre-flop (and that's where the term limping comes in to play...entering the pot: preflop), are 2 Aces. 4 POKER | ||
