| Thought I would jokingly share this with you guys. Couple of years back I was traveling with an employee and we stopped at a gas station to get some drinks. I bought 3 Dr. Peppers and one of them happened to be a 1000 buck winner. The odds listed on the bottle showed this to be a 10,000:1 shot. But, when I bought the 3 bottles I became a 2:1 favorite to win the grand when I offered one of the bottles to the fellow with me. Can you guess who cashed in on the grand? My wife still threatens to divorce me for my blunder. I know you guys hate to hear about bad-beats but I thought this might make your next one not feel so bad. | ||

| What? He didn't offer to split it? Or even get you in for a share of it? How about this... think of the guy who stood in line BEHIND the person who got the winning powerball ticket. They could be thinking of all the reasons that they didn't get to the counter sooner. TKarrde "The next best thing to playing and winning, is playing and losing." | ||

| Once you give him the bottle of pop, you're giving him everything that comes with it and that includes the chance of winning. Needless to say, if somebody gave me a winning pop like that I would say nothing about it, make sure I kept the bottle. Buy my buddy a Dr. Pepper the very next day. Then I'd notice that "my" bottle had won. | ||

| I think this is where I would test to see how well my "poker face" has developed by not having the biggest grin on my face while looking at that botte cap. Mike www.pokeranon.com | ||

| Well, it's different with powerball .. there, you can pick whatever numbers wherever you stand in line. It's not like you're one place behind Wal-Mart's 1,000,000,000th customer sweepstakes. | ||

| Actually it could be. Most people do the Quick-Pick. So there is no difference if the cashier hands the quick pick to customer A or Customer B. Of course you can argue that it won't be the same quick pick number. But in theory, it would be the same number if the ticket was rung up at the same time just handed to someone else. | Yes, but I doubt that the numbers generated in such a system have anything to do with the order in which they come. They are more likely to result from the the precise time the machine issues the ticket and a pseudrandom seed in the machine. | ||

| Agreed, most definately. Order has little if anything to do with it. Timing. TKarrde "The next best thing to playing and winning, is playing and losing." | ||
