6 handed HE on Party, palman, 12. Jul 2003 10:00

The sit n go's are down today..... so I decided to play a little 6 handed 1/2 holdem.

5 handed HE on paradise got me in some trouble a couple of months ago (partially due to skill, partially because I was playing 3/6 as well ), so have stayed away from shorthanded altogether, but decided to give it a try on party with a lower limit.

I'm at the table right now, and my dilemma is this..... what hands CAN'T I play preflop.

I've been at the table for 45 minutes, and I am the only person who has preflop raised. And I only did it with KK. So there is NO chance of getting raised preflop.

They chase like a young boy following the sweet music of the ice cream truck. A hand that just came up where the flop was 3 diamonds, I having no diamonds folded... but 4 people stayed with the pot until the river.... which flopped the 4th diamond, yet no one had one, top pair medium kicker won the pot (no straight draws either)

The blinds will eat me alive if I only play premium hands, and since there are 5-6 callers every hand they may not even be profitable.

but how loose should my starting requirements be assuming solid play after the flop.

Preflop raising doesnt drive anyone out unless I'm UTG, so when should I?

I've got this one guy scouted... he ALWAYS bets on the river, if ppl check on the turn, and the board was 98873 with 3 people in the hand at the river(including me), he was first to act and bet, next guy folds, I call with AQ and take it down. Has happenned 3 times now

Calling with third pair on the river is profitable. It also helps that I'm on a huge rush... getting the cards, flopping nut flushes and getting 5 callers , 3 of which will go to the river.

Edit: My statistics as of now are...

hands played 61.
hands won 26%
showdowns won 85%
flops seen 71% (shows how loose I'm playing)
win % if flops seen 39%

Basically I'm just getting the huge rush of cards (just flopped top set actually) with loose chasing awful players, and am up $112 at 1/2 and I've been here an hour now.
