Toking other players, MozMan, 11. Jul 2003 16:43

Hey- At my B&M the other night, I saw a player toke another player because the second player spoke up and saved him half a pot when the dealer (and the first player) didn't see that it was actually a chopped pot.

I never saw a player toke another player before, but thought that was pretty cool... :)

I've seen a player toke the dealer and anyone who went to the river with him when he won. I thought it was nice, and probably fine for a gambler who doesn't play poker much; but I imagine it would cut into your profits quite a bit if you did it often....

I have toked other players that have driven me almost all in on a live game on ocassion. If im on tilt and don't wanna risk more bank roll, and the hand takes all but my last 2 to 5 dollars for example. Usually congratulate them on a good hand, whether or not it was and toss them my remaining chips. Don't know if thats bad advice to do, but I have only done it once or twice.

I've never seen a player toke in poker, but it's not uncommon in craps. The best "luck" I ever had at the craps table was due largely to a high roller playing 500/1,500 per pass while I was shooting (and betting the $5 minimum). He made a $1,000 hard 8 bet, won, and then bet $500 for me (and $2,000 for him) on the hard eight. We made it again and when the roll ended I quit.

All told, he probably made $50,000-$75,000 on my streak, and I walked away with about $5,000. It was the best day I ever had in a casino--and almost all my profit was due to the high rollers toke bet.
