No Limit (monster) Hand, TKarrde, 11. Jul 2003 08:16

| I didn't extract as much money out of this hand as I would have liked. Would like some thoughts please. I'm on the BB and dealt T5o. Five players left in a Sit and Go. Blinds are 15/30. It goes fold, fold, raise, call, call. (Don't ask me why I called. Gotta mix things up occassionaly.) Flop comes 585. I'm thinking "Sweet mother of pearl!" SB checks. I can't bet this outright so I check. Pre-flop raiser checks. Turn comes a Q. SB checks. I gotta get something in the pot and hope that someone out there has a Q. I bet 50. Raiser calls. SB folds. The river comes the case 5. Wow. How do I play this. I actually take a bit of time to think about it. I think he might have a Q with his call. If so then he has a nice boat and probably thinks he has the nut hand or would chop with me. I think he might call me. I've got just under T2000 and he is just under T5000. I go all-in. He barely hesitates before typing. "u have a 5 lol" And then folds. I won T280. I wrote back that I did in fact have the 5. (Damn new software doesn't give the option to Show Cards.) He said he had the Q. How did this guy KNOW I had the 5. And how could I have gotten more money out of the hand besides betting a smaller amount on the river? Thanks, TK "The next best thing to playing and winning, is playing and losing." | ||

| Oh, I forgot. It came down to me and the other guy as the final two. He had me at about 8000/2000 early on. I battled to make it 5000/5000 and then he took me out with overcards to my 99. (Got tired wanted to get it over.) So it most likely would have affect my outcome had I been able to extract some more chips out of him. | I would have checked the river to see if he would bet anything. There aren't that many players who will check down a boat, especially with the top card on the board. There is no way he could put you on AA or KK, so your river check (to me) would have spelled "OK, I gave a shot at it on the turn and someone called, so I will now check my crappy hand for hopefully a free showdown." Then, he would have bet pot and then you go all-in. | ||

Hey TK- If you go to the main window, I think I found it under "Tools" or "Options," there is one that says, "Never show winning cards" with a check next to it. Just click it and the check will go off, then you will have the chioce again. BTW, was this the SNG that I busted out of early? -Moz "The reports of my assimilation are greatly exaggerated."

| Were you in a SnG with me? Aww damn Moz. I was in a game with you. (I had UB send me the entire hand history from both of my SnGs last night. They are so great.) I got second in that SnG too but that was not the same one. Hmmmm... Now I need to go through the Hand History and do some Moz-critiquing!! | Nice first hand. Moz gets pocket Kings. Only to go all in and chop with another guy who got pocket Kings. Damn! And you even said Hello. (These hand histories are cool. They even show all the chat.) I'm gonna look through and find something good, but right now I gotta run some errands! TKarrde "The next best thing to playing and winning, is playing and losing." | ||

| Yeah, I chopped another all-in on AK when the guy next to me also had AK... it was a weird game. I busted out 8th on a stupid all-in call. I thought the guy was bluffing, and I had top pair, top kicker on an uncoordinated board... he had a bigger pocket pair that he had been slow-playing. -Moz "The reports of my assimilation are greatly exaggerated." | ||

| You know that hand you chopped with AK... I had KQo. I limped in and then folded to your raise and the guy behind you with the monster re-raise. I was glad I did as the three of you showed AK, AK, and AT. But I almost did call the raise. Had I done so I would have been in Heaven with the Q that hit the flop! :) I'd fold it again... nines times on Tuesday and twenty ways to breakfast (or however the hell that saying goes.) | Holy Moly!! I knocked you out. LOL I feel so bad. I played that whole game with you and even knocked you and and never even said hi. (Granted you only had T145 when I did it.) Actually I was quite impressed with how patient you were once you were down to the felt. And you even had the monster AQs vs my QTo. I just got really lucky. And not even an apology. Not even a "gg". I am such a bastard. But if I can make any excuses I was really busy paying bills and reconciling checking account. I can only do so much!! | Ah, yes. I remember that hand. AND I remember not showing the 88 when it was not called... I didn't realize they did that. I don't think I like that. I have a similar frustration at my B&M. The have a policy that if any player asks to see the winner's hand at the end and it can still be retrieved (isn't mixed into the muck) the dealer will show it. There are some jerks who ask to see every winning hand that doesn't get shown down. I often go to another game when one of these is at a table. -Moz "The reports of my assimilation are greatly exaggerated." | ||

| Well not completely. I jumped the gun. If one person folds it will show the hand of the winner. If you both go to the river and one play mucks, it will show that hand. But it is still a LOT of information. And if I was a serious player I think I would have a problem with it. But since I am not. I'm just enjoying it. I wonder if this is the same info that you get when you click on the Hand History button? I think I'll check hand histories more often. | It is... On UB (and I think Planet) the hand histories tell you what everyone has at the river whether they muck or not. IMO, that shouldn't be allowed, because the serious players will be able to get really good reads on the not so serious. So watch out TK! And don't go to the river unless you're going to win! on 11. | I think when you have the T5 there you certainly can bet it. Nobody is going to put you on a 5 necessarilly and you want to get somebody with 56 raising at you. You're representing a pocket pair or top pair if you bet now and are likely to get called by overcards. Those are the ones you want to keep in the hand. If you don't bet it here and then go nuts with it on the turn then everybody is going to read you for a 5 and run scared - unless the board pairs and somebody has a better tight than you in which case you'd have wished that you bet. | ||
