| Just signed up for Party Poker and have to say that I am not a fan of the site. Now let me just say this: i) I had my worst ring game night ever in my life; ii) in 6 hours I was dealt exactly 3 pairs higher than 7 and 1 big slick (no kidding). All 3 got cracked. But having said that, the ring game action is just ludicrous. Its like a 10 handed lottery game each hand. Raising? Just building a pot. Position raises? Forget it. Everyone cold calls 2 raises. Check raise? Why? Absurd. This is not poker, its moronic. The guy that gets the lucky cards wins the pot. How is that fun? Now of course, had the cards been running great and I were up a few hundred, I am sure I wouldn't have such sour grapes (which I do). But I threw off about $75 tonight and just shrugged my shoulders. How can I be upset about it? I guess those games could be lucrative, but its not fun poker. Give me a good sit and go at UB any day of the week over that crap. Btw, I did win a 10 + 1 NL sit and go at Party Poker. Maybe I will just stick to the sit and gos there. They seem pretty beatable. In general though, I was not that impressed with the software. The UB interface is much more user friendly (IMHO). So in case anyone cares, I officially am not counted among the fans of Party Poker. Back to UB for me. | ||

| I agree that the software isn't very good. It's seems geared towards the television audience. I don't see any other reason for the fireworks everytime you win a hand. But, if the object is to win money, if you're patient, you'll win a lot of it. beigs on 11. | I am no software buff, but I have gotten used to Party (except their recent server issues). However, depending on the limits you play (I play 3-6 and 5-10), there is a crapload of dead money to be made there. Yes...you will have those sessionw where you are down 20 BB's in a short period of time. But, you should also have a session winning average of around 70% with a few biggies in there that has (for me at least) more than made up the difference. Good luck. | ||

| The 6 handed games are much more profitable. I am just going to have to start playing PL and NL ring games instead of Limit. But in general, UB is a better site (IMHO) hands down. | ||

| I know it's a small thing, but one thing about Party really bugs me. When two people are heads up in a tournamanet and one is all-in, the SW should show both peoples down cards and slowly deal any remaining cards. I hate how it just deals all the cards left very quickly, then shows the downcards for about a second. It usually doesn't even give me time to figure out what everybody had. I hate having to go back to the hand history just to figure out what the hell happened. I like the PokerStars software much better. But the SitNGo's are just too much of a goldmine to ignore. I find I do better at the limit SitNGo's than the no limit ones. I think it's because you can usually survive one or two bad beats, whereas in NL people will call you down with anything and when they beat you you could be gone from the tourney. | ||

| I totally agree Jav. Although I have won a bunch of NL sits there. I HATE the way they do showdowns as you do. Its a blur and incredibly unsatisfying. Just a blur of cards and then a pot being pushed your way (or not). But the players are really lousy and its pretty easy to watch 6 players go out early and then fight with 3 others for the money. But again, I think I am a UB guy. Best of all worlds. Plenty of fish, but better mix of games, software and just all around enjoyability. Again, just my humble opinion. I did bounce back big from that awful first session playing 6 handed games and a bunch of sits. I am well in the profit now and will keep an open mind, but I would rather be spending my time at UB. | ||
