| I have been to Foxwoods many times and found that the $2-4 and even $4-8 games full of fish, but the $5-$10 games are very very tough. Are there any others who have found it the same? Do you go up often? When? It would be nice to meet a with some of the posters who have helped me with my game. | ||

| I actually find the 5-10 kill game to be quite lucrative. The 4-8 game is also a good one...the 10-20 is where I find it to be tricky. There is a chance that I may be there this Saturday...still not certain. | ||

| Hello Hatchthunder, I play at Foxwoods about once a month. I like the Saturday night $4-8 games there very much. Haven't tried the $5-10kill hold'em yet, although my ambitions lie in that direction. It's a bit disappointing to hear that it is very very tough. Snorbolus on 9. Don't be hesitant in moving up, especially if you check out the game first and feel that you stand a very good chance of beating it. 4 POKER > > on 9. | 4 Poker, Thanks for the encouragement. The thing is that I am not sure if I am beating the $4-8 games. I think that I am, but I have played, in total, less than 150 hours casino poker; less than 50 at $4-8. I certainly do still have leaks in my game. At the moment I feel that I need to have at least a couple of really quite bad players at a table with me if I am going to beat the game. Such players are plentiful in the Foxwoods $4-8 games. Do you think that there are also enough of them in the $5-10kill games to subsidize a player such as myself? I do feel that my poker is improving all the time, largely thanks to reading this forum. I always try to make my posts clear, confident sounding and to state exactly what I think. That way, if I am mistaken or thinking badly there is a better chance that others will notice and point it out. I hope that I do not come across as arrogant, especially given my inexperience at the game. A big thanks to you and to all of the other posters here, Snorbolus on 9. That says to me that you are very careful about your table selection and that's great. Do I think you can beat a $5-10 game with a 1/2 kill? Of course I do. Will you? Well that depends. If you scope the game out first, and notice that there are several bad players in the game, then take a seat. If you notice that the game is too tough (for whatever reason).....than pass. It's that simple. Keep in mind...there is NOTHING WRONG with playing in the limit that you are beating right now. If you're playing $-4-8 (or lower) but are showing good results, if and when you feel comfortable and secure with your bankroll to move up a bit, then advance to the next limit. It's no biggy, really. But know, the more experience you do get, the easier it will be for you to move up, and before you know you it....you'll BE one of the best players in the game; and that is what matters most. Play against much weaker opponents, regardless of the limit. When I first started to play poker, I played at the same limit for about 2 years before moving up, and when I did move up......I was a little scared myself, but I did it anyway because my bankroll was bigger and I felt that I had good card sense as well. But I never concerned myself with the limits. My friend and I both started at the same limit and he was playing 3x the limit that I was before I even moved up to the next limit. His bankroll was bigger, he was putting in way more hours than I was, and he wasn't afraid about the limits. He just did it...and today, we both play poker professionally and pretty close to the same limits, too. Did it take me longer to get there? Yes. Did I care.....No! Some people advanve quicker than others....some never advance....and some stay perfectly content at the limit they're playing at right now. It's all going to depend on what your needs are and what your own true capabilities are, too. Just enjoy yourself, Snorbolus....and when you're ready, you'll know. And if playing at the $4-8 game has been real good to you thus far....than good for you, period. I don't want you to get the impression that I think you should move up....just know that I think if your poker bankroll is good enough for a $5-10 game, and that you've scoped it out first, and feel that it's a pretty soft game....then give it a try. Remember....there should never be any pressure on you to increase your already existing limit of choice. Poker is a lifetime of events......so relax and enjoy yourself. Play smart and let the chips fall where they may. Good luck and may you show good results in the future as well. 4P- > on 9. | I have only played the $5-$10 a couple of times. Now that I hear from you others maybe I was playing too tight. I prefer the $4-$8 games myself. How close are you to Foxwoods? I have a 1 1/2 drive. I can only convince the wife to let me out about once a month. | ||

| Hello Hatchthunder, I live in CT, also about 1 1/2 hour drive from Foxwoods. Drop me an e-mail (snorbolus@hotmail.com) if you care to meet up there sometime. Snorbolus on 10.
