You are dealt pocket tens in middle position of a somewhat loose typical 4-8 holdem game. you raise after an early limper, only the blinds call as well as the limper. The flop is 346 rainbow. The small blind bets ( she is a tight passive player who ususually has something when she bets, however, not always something big). The BB calls( she is a loose calling station). The EP raises (I have never played with this guy but I suspect he is a decent player). The game tends to be loose to the river.....What would you do?

I will fill in the blanks later.

Here is another quickie scenario. Somewhat tight somewhat aggressive game. Three players limp including you with Kh Js from late position. The flop comes 2c Td Jd. The small blind a tight aggressive player bets, a middle position player another tight aggressive player raises.....What do you do?

I think that you have to re-raise in both of these cases. It is most likely that you are ahead and, as Shorn said, you want your opponents to pay for their draws.

Thanks for your replies guys. In the first scenario the small blind betting out did spook me. My gut told me I was in a lot of trouble and I folded. My raise received zero respect and I thought it very possible that I was drawing pretty dead. I could be in the lead now but several cards could hit the turn to render my hand dead. After I mucked everyone called the raise. A Jack hit and everyone checked. A nine hit the river and everyone checked. The small blind turned over 56 suited. The raise had a 68 suited. oops! I mucked the winner. I think this was a raise or fold situation and I don't think I had enough evidence at the time that my hand was beat. I should have reraised.

In scenario two I did reraise the small blind called and the flop raiser capped it and we all called. A blank hit the turn it was checked to the raiser who bet, I folded and the big blind called. The river was a blank both players checked. The small blind missed a straight draw and the raiser had Jack ten suited for a flopped two pair. I think in this situation with two of the same suite and two cards in the playing zone coupled with a good player raising in front of me a fold to the raise on the flop would have been the more prudent play.

Shorn I like your advice to let them tell you that your hand is no good.
Big Slick I agree with you that in some cases you are better off getting out of a hand like this. I think with experience I will better know when this time is.

Thanks again.
