Mike Caro, your "qutting poker" post on RGP, Easy E, 7. Jul 2003 10:22

I've reproduced it below- my comments follow:

"A few people on this forum have affected me so profoundly that I am
completely done with poker, except in the limited ways defined at the
end of this post.

I've been contemplating this move for a long time.

Whenever I clear up the record, someone just keeps avoiding those
facts and going on to something else equally bizarre that begs to bite
off another hour or two of my time.

So, now they can declare victory, because, as I said, I'm done with
poker completely.

The only exceptions will be a players' conference that I'm hosting
Friday, a couple dozen books and videos that are already in the works, select public appearances, a radio show I'm already committed to, cheater monitoring behind the scenes, some audio lectures on poker and life, the continued emergence of online poker, consultation, some posts to this and other forums from time to time, the development of courses and products for Mike Caro University of Poker, Gaming, and Life Strategy (MCU), statistical analysis of poker, some poker-related artificial intelligence development out of the public eye, private poker programming beyond the public spotlight, and several high-profile projects yet to be announced.

I regret having to make this announcement.
Straight Flushes,
Mike Caro "

While it seems that "qutting poker" is going to have to be redefined (and, as you replied on RGP, you are planning on playing more as a result), I was VERY disappointed that you would allow the idiots to "drive you off" as it were.
However, after looking at this list of exceptions, I'm starting to think that this was some big sarcastic comment on RGP and your troll tormenters. Care to comment here, on your "own" forum, as to what prompted what I assume to be a "misleading" post?

And, by the way, your list of projects has me salivating at the prospects! The last 3, especially, sound really interesting! I look forward to more in your "retirement" years....

U of A just released a massively updated version of Poki ... forget what it is called exactly, but it is supposed to be much harder to mess with.

I'm still grumbling about Shaeffer not letting me into the games AI group there :(

Sweet...gonna have to try it out.
BTW...Poki was my first "experience" with online poker. Spent a good 10-20 hours screwin' around there, reading their white papers, etc.

http://www.cs.ualberta.ca/~games/poker, for anyone interested in checking it out.
