9 down, 350 to go......., Risky Business, 7. Jul 2003 08:25

I made the Party Poker Million Semi-Finals last night. Anybody else playing in this Sunday's (the 13th) Semi? I'm expecting at least 350 entrants.

I'll hold the UPF flag high.

Took me a few tries, but much less than the $200 they want for instant access.......and got some tourney practice after a decent tournament layoff.

I thought about it, but don't think I can committ the time.

Good luck Risky. I hope you make it to the Finals.

I remember all of my partypoker semifinals from last year, ... they were a blast (I will politely sidestep the one that crashed completely since the folks at Partypoker did a stellar job addressing all player's concerns). I hope that you have accumulated the maximum extra chips from table play, ... because you are going to need them.

Good luck Risky and more importantly ... good result!

I've asked them about that, so I'll ask you too.......do my previous games and tourneys count?.............or do I start accumulating my extra chips the day I qualify for the semi's?

Sign in on the www.partypoker.com website and go to the bonus chips section and check your standing. Check the rules too. They accumulate up to the semifinals and only a surplus is allowed over into another semifinal. That info is from last year, ... could have changed ... :)

One more thing Risky, ... go out and buy sunscreen today for the cruise, because:

Hey Risky.. I made the semi-finals too and accumulated the maximum of extra chips. I am playing on Sunday also. I have never really played in a tournament with 350+ plus, what kind of strategy are you going to have ?

Strategy: Stay out of your way.

I only know one speed..........WIDE ASS OPEN!!

'How many' is the maximum amount of chips? I can't get to PP from 'here'.

You start with 1000 chips and can accumulate an extra 2000 for a total of 3000 chips

Very important detail they've left out.........did you win a limit or no limit tourney? I won a no limit tourney.

Are there going to be 2 semi's going on at once, or are we all playing limit...or no limit? The email they sent me didn't specify. Nor did it specify a time.

I know, I know, go to PP.com and look under "tournaments", blah, blah, blah. I just thought that info might be worth mailing to contestants.

I won a no-limit tournament, it was pretty tough to win. We are playing limit, I talked to someone that made it to the finals from the first semi-finals and they said it took 7 hours. Quick question: after you won the tournament, did you get any money for winning it? Or does your money go into the entry for the semi-finals? Thanks

Looks like I might not be playing on Sunday after all.

I just joined PP a few weeks ago, for the PPM exclusively, but the deadline for extra chips for this semi-final has passed.

Starting as a 3:1 dog? Hmmmmm.......do I save my entry for when I have those coveted extra chips........or do I sit for experience and see what happens?

Why not play it? Who knows, you could make a comeback and not be in terrible shape by the first break. If you don't want it, I'll take your seat. I've just joined Party to qualify for the semi's as well. The tournaments have been really valuable experience for me. Just from a discipline standpoint.

"Extra Starting Chips for each set of Semi-finals can only be accrued during the TWO calendar months prior to the next scheduled date of the Semi-finals. For example, Extra Starting Chips for the Semi-finals scheduled for May 2-4 will be accrued during the period March 1 through April 30. The Extra Starting Chips have no monetary value and cannot be redeemed for cash or anything else. They are only valid for the Semi-final immediately following the period during which chips are accumulated."

Well, that settles the Extra Starting Chip question.

Should you play this weekend? Sure. You are going to qualify in the next set of semifinals anyways, so you might as well get the practice.

Stings to admit this, but I got 2nd last night trying to do just what you're suggesting.

Didn't sleep well knowing I had the chip lead while heads up.

Hey Risky,

I qualified but I think I'm playing Friday. Good luck to you. It would be great if both of us went cruising!
