In limit play, I know the goal is to win one big bet per hour. Is there any such norm to shoot for in tourney play? Specifically in NLHE sit n' go tourneys? Something like "place in x% of the tourneys you enter" maybe?

Any assistance appreciated. Thanks!

Your win rate in the sit n go's is dependent on a few things.....

The payout schedule - if you're incredible at shorthanded NL, then your overall win percentage can be lower than others, but if you usually get first or second, you'll end up making more.

The % is somewhere between 40-50%, that I try to achieve.

Basically if I'm unlucky.... I expect to break even over the course of 10 tournaments (one 1st , one 2nd, one 3rd) and just be out the fees (or at most say 30-60 dollars)

If I just have average luck I should be around the 40-50%.

But when good luck, I could go on runs of 70-80% for a while.

When I play single table tournaments, I expect to make top 3 50% of the time. I find that most low limit players have horrid 4, 3, and heads up games and thus when I make top three unless I am in a crippled position, I usually win. I'd say my distribution is usually 1: 25%, 2: 15%, 3: 10%, 4-7: 20% 8-10:30% ...why 8-10 more than 4-7? Simply because there are dummies chucking money around and before they bust out they sometimes get lucky and take you down. When you flop top set and there's a flush draw on board, all you can do is get your money in while you have the best of it.
