Roy and others - Talking to yourself isn't the half of it., stdioh, 4. Jul 2003 15:10 | ||

| Just for your amusement more than anything else, I thought I'd share some of the things I do when I feel tilt coming on or when I've been playing too long and my eyes start to droop. First I walk out into the parking lot. Like Roy, I talk to myself. Sometimes - I get some funny looks once in a while. I ask myself, "Why did you play that hand in the SB? It's junk - I don't care how many damn hell limpers there were. Fold everythink but AA, KK, QQ, and AK for the next orbit and get your head straight." If I need to clear my head I go for a jog around the parking lot - this gets lots of looks - physical activity and casinos don't seem to go together well...if it were a university campus I wouldn't get a second look. The all time stupid looking thing I do is martial arts. Yup. Nothing rigid or formal, but I'll go out into the parking lot and do the equivalent of shadow boxing. I'll throw some kicks and do some footwork. I'll think about some of the fights I had in my past and essentially pretend that I'm going back to the casino to fight, not to play cards. This gets lots of looks and usually gets a security van hanging around until I'm finished and go back in. The important message is, it doesn't matter how stupid you think you look. Do what you need to do to keep you mind on the game and if you can't do it then go home and sleep. | ||

| This is great stuff! Of course, when it's 112 degrees out, doing anything physical in the parking lot would probably be a BIG mistake for me... but the 3 or 4 months out of the year when it cools off here it should be fine. -Moz "My name is Homer. | Stdioh, that was very funny. I can just imagine security edging closer while you blow off some steam doing kata in the parking lot. lol. When my eyes start drooping, I order coffee. Now there's a vice worth indulging! When the coffee stops working, it is time for some serious sleep and an early morning (or afternoon ...) swim. That is the advantage of playing in Vegas, when you need a change of pace, ... the Sahara pool is a short taxi ride from the cardroom. For those of you that have never been to the old Vegas style pools in general or the Sahara pool in particular, it is long, long, long, not too deep, enclosed by walls for privacy, surrounded by lawn chairs and adult palm trees, flowers, and birds. Just the place to read Sklansky after a good swim. flintsword | ||
