| I play at a casino that has a jackpot for bad beat hands. Aces full of tens or better beaten by four of a kind or better. Lets say there was no preflop raise and I have AK offsuite. the flop comes A A 7 rainbow. I check and my two other opponents check. Another Ace hits the turn, I check one guy bets the other guy folds I call. An eight hits the river. I check the guy bets again. Would it be foolish to raise here considering the possibility the other guy has a pocket pair ten or higher. I have heard horror stories about people who thought they were beat and mucked a big hand that would have been a jackpot. How about if you have the big pocket pair and there are two Aces on the board and you are sure your opponent has the third ace, do you stick with it until the river even though you know your going to have to call several bets. what if you have K Q with raises before the flop. the flop comes A A Q The turn brings another Ace, now do you fold your full boat knowing that its possible somebody has AK and the other person may have a pocket pair ten or higher. If you stay in you would be the one taking the bad beat if somebody had the fourth ace but there would be know jackpot because both of your cards did not play. Or do you just play the hand as you normally would and let the chips fall were they may? Is there something you say or do that lets the other players know that you have a potential jackpot hand? Obviously you can't tell them what you have. | ||

| Casinos where i play, both pocket cards have to play and if you have As full,at least 1 A must be a pocket card. So in this instance you should have raised to roof. What you should do is check with the floor person to find out the rules for the bad beat where you play. Make sure you know them cold. I've seen lots of money lost betting hands that were NOT JPs, but the player believed it was. | ||

| Yes, everywhere I have played both of your hole cards have to play in order to be jackpot eligible. In general I don't think the odds of a jackpot warrant any different play than you normally would. | ||

| Indeed, you shouldn't raise here because it is very possible for you to get the jackpot. Your hand is AAAAK and you are playing both of your hole cards. If he is holding TT JJ QQ or KK then he has a qualifying beat hand as both of his hole cards are playing. Yes, it is very doubtful that he will fold to a river raise if he has TT or better, but it would be just so catastrophically bad if he did toss his TT there that you can't justify the raise. | ||
