QUESTIONS FOR PARTY POKER PLAYERS, Giocatore, 30. Jun 2003 04:55 | ||

| For the past few years I have been playing exclusively on Paradise Poker and Poker Stars. Despite the fact that I am, for the most part, limited to playing online due to where I reside at present i.e. without access to a card room, I have enjoyed considerable success at these sites and have managed to supplement my income to the point where I am content with my overall results. Unfortunately, I was also unable to see any of the WPT episodes. Nevertheless, I have heard that thanks to their advertising on the Travel Channel, Party Poker has experienced an explosion in action, recently topping Paradise Poker as the most frequently visited online poker site. Last night, I logged on to check out several of the games at different levels. The first thing I noticed was that over 9500 players were logged in at around 9:30 P.M. EST. I don't recall seeing so much as 2700 at one time on Paradise Poker. The second thing that struck me was how loose some of the games were that I was observing. I watched 8 players see a flop for 4 bets at a 3/6 table, a $240 pot at another 3/6 table, a $350 pot at a 5/10 table and a $150 pot at 2/4 table. Note: These were all limit hold em games, my preferred choice. In fact, I remember Big_Slick's post about being involved in a $367 pot in a 3/6 game. In all my years at the two aforementioned sites I have only seen two pots top $200 in 3/6 limit hold em games. So after observing various games for an hour or so, I have decided to give Party Poker a try to coincide with a 25% deposit bonus they have offered me. I now have a few questions about Party Poker for those of you who frequent their site. 1) Are most limit hold em games, ranging from 2/4 to 5/10, the limits that I normally play, generally as loose and as wild as I observed? 2) If so, how often do you, especially if you are consistent earners, experience bankroll fluctuations of, say, 40-60 big bets? 3) Finally, I have also read several posts here about people not being able to log on to Party Poker at a given time and people complaining about the site crashing during key hands, resulting in everyone being refunded their original bets. Is this truly a major concern, and how often has such a problem negatively affected you? Thanks in advance to all of you who take the time to respond, and good luck in your games. - Giocatore | ||

| Gio- I used to play Paradise exclusively, but now I only play at Party. I play mostly 3/6 and 5/10 there and most (if not all) of the games will have at least 50% of the people seeing the flop. The pots that you mention are somewhat extraordinary; however, in general, you should expect the average poit to contain at least 10 BB's, whereas Paradise was always 5-7 in my experience. The explosion of players (thank you WPT) has presented an unprecedented opportunity for good players. I don't think you will be dissapointed. | ||

| They have exploded with people, and the site does get REALLY slow at peak hours (EST) because the servers just can't handle the amount of strain from new players. | ||

| Indeed . . . I got into the Party Poker mix this evening, only to experience the server crash no more than 10 minutes after I began playing. Is this a daily occurrence on their site? I sure hope not. Made a decent 25 BBs at the 1/2, saw some ridiculous play and can see why all you good players have been raving about the number of fish lured there thanks to the Travel Channel. on 30.
