question about playing blinds, balik, 25. Jun 2003 18:49

I've noticed a trend in playing the small blinds on line that I'm wondering if it is illegal / unethical/ or just plain good poker.

A person is coming up on their BB and SB bets. They sit out until the button passes then they play their blinds in late position, rather then in the earlyy positon.

Is this legal? Is it ethical? And what advantage or disadvantage do you see in playing it this way.

Alot of the players that were sitting at the table basically got mad and left.

Does this happen alot in the B&M?

As long as you end up paying both your blinds, there is nothing unethical about posting both or just the small blind after the button. Doing this is least disadvantageous at 3-6 where the small blind is only 1/3 of a bet. If there are one or two open seats or players sitting out, it's not worthwhile. The positive side is that you can be aggressive with anything if no one calls, and also play some hands that you wouldn't otherwise for a raise. You give up having the button so you can play your blinds with better position.
