IIANM, Turning Stone is in Syracuse. But a lot of players from Buffalo come up to play in Brantford (my home casino) ... if you cross the border at Niagara Falls you'll head up the QEW (Queen's Express Way) to the 403 and take that to Brantford ... then just follow the signs that point to the casino - I think coming from that way you take Wayne Gretzky Parkway from the 403 into downtown Brantford. I'm guessing that it is about an hour and a half drive from buffalo if the traffic is clear.

Turning Stone blows chunks. You'll be lucky is they have 2 games to choose from at your limit and I guarantee that one of the tables will be a "move table". Meaning that you'll have to move when a seat opens at the main game. That way, they always have one table full.

There must be some good places closer to you across the border.

There are three popular cardrooms in Ontario. Bratford would be the closest and is the best and most popular - it is also nonsmoking. Rama is in Orillia, about an hour or so North of Toronto - I believe it is also nonsmoking. They have single table tournaments, but the cardroom there is not popular and you won't find much. Port Perry is the other one, even further away - they offer a smoking room. I've never played there though.

Basically if you are coming across from Buffalo then you should come to Brantford, as it is about 10 minutes out of Hamilton.

Also, make sure that when you take your American cash to the cage and get Canadian that you get a receipt for it - what they do there is allow you to cash it back to US for the same exchange rate you bought it for when you are done up to the amount you bought - since there is a different rate for buy and sell you don't want to lose money on the exchange. Or if you are planning to play there frequently, you can just keep a roll of Canadian cash and convert some out to USD once every few months at the bank where they will give you a good rate - though right now the Canadian dollar is gaining a lot of ground on the USD so you would probably be better to hang onto Canadian dollars.

If you want to come up to Brantford, Wren and I can arrange to meet you for some buffet there or something.

So there are no poker rooms in the city of Toronto? I get to Toronto once or twice a year for business and would love to play when in town.

There are no legal cardrooms in Toronto that you could just waltz into without knowing anybody. Of course if you know somebody you could play at The Office or Betty's in Mississauga. You could play at Randy's on Church street. You could play in lots of places. I hear there's a great underground 15/30 game in Hamilton. The point is that if you're going to drive into town to find a new place to play, you'll find better action at Brantford than you will at most of the undergrounds and you can be sure of having a fair game and that you won't be robbed in the back alley when you leave.
