Its a No Limit Holdem Super Satelite past the rebuy stage. There are 11 people left and the top 3 get entries. The Blinds are 200-400 and I have 1600 left in chips. I am UTG and as the cards are being dealt they say the blinds will go up after this hand, to 400-800. I look down and see J-8s and push allin. Im called by the BB who has A-Qo. Game Over. Any suggestions?

J8s is probably better than the random hand you would have had to go all-in with on your 800 chip big blind on the next hand. Raising all-in under the gun at least gave you a chance to steal the blinds if everyone folded, you wouldn't have had the same opportunity on your BB. Surely a large stack would have noticed you had to post half your stack on your big blind and raised enough to force you all-in.

If you got pure junk on your BB like 82o you might have to fold and take your chances with only half of that being forced on your small blind and someone would again force you all-in for the remaining 400. Taking your chances with a medium suited 2 gapper in a forced situation isn't a bad decision, the situation really did dictate that you take your chances before you got blinded off.

You didn't give enough information. How is everyone else on chips?

Generally you would need that information, but I think here it is pretty much irrelevant...unless there are 8 players with less than T400 left at the table...even then you're probably in trouble when the blinds get around to you because one of them will win a hand.

Nope. You were desperate. You made a desperation steal. You got called by a better hand. Game - set - match. Good luck next tournament.

I don't think you did anything wrong and I would have done the same.
