Boardwalk in Las Vegas, Guru, 22. Jun 2003 10:11

For those of you that live in or are familiar with Las Vegas, I have a question. We are planning a trip to Vegas in October and were looking at hotels and whatnot. We were considering staying at the Boardwalk becuase it was significantly cheaper than anywhee else on the strip, is in the center of the strip, and, super bonus, is located right next to the Bellagio. My question is, how good is it as a hotel? I really don't plan to use their casino much, but I really can't afford to stay at the premier spots unless I get much better at poker in a hurry. I just wanted to make sure that the place was okay to stay at because I worry that it is so much cheaper for a reason.

I dont know how the boardwalk is, but I think you should check out the Westwardho, imperial palace, flamingo, tropicana, ballys, casino royale, harrahs for good cheap strip hotels, somewhat near the middle.

i live in las vegas so im familiar with the Boardwak, although i've never stayed there. It is what is referred to as a value hotel--marketing lingo for cheap. if you don't like it, don't check in. i dont know what your price range is but Monte Carlo has a fine poker room and excellent poker rate on rooms depending on availability. if you are coming mid-week there are a million deals all over town. If price is your main criteria then the Boardwalk is probably ok. good luck!

Try checking out www.cheapovegas.com . They have great information on all Las Vegas casinos. My impression of the Boardwalk is that you get what you pay for, not that great, not that expensive, but I don't think it's horrid like the cheap rooms at Palace Station or anything. Remember to stay away from the Boardwalk buffet however, it's consistently ranked among the worst in Vegas. I think the snacks at Boardwalk are pretty good though.

I'm with Gary, Monte Carlo is a good reasonably priced option. I enjoy the card room AND they have a direct tram to Bellagio if you feel the need to go.

If you just want a place to crash, then Boardwalk is fine I guess (I've never seen the rooms). Boardwalk is a very short walk to Monte Carlo.
