| Anyone else playing in any Act One or Act Two tournaments? I was thinking about playing a coupole of Act One (and hopefully Act Two's) to try and qualify for the World Poker Finals. Anyone every do this? Of course, I can just buck up the $1,000 for the Act III, but I like the odds I get on my money doing it this way. for $30 you can enter a 10 handed table in Act One. 2 winners get vouchers for the $115 single table Act Two tournaments which each winner at the table gets a $1,060 voucher for the World Poker Final Satellites. Every 10 entries in the Satellites gets a seat in the $10,000 World Poker Finals at Foxwoods. So figuring I can place top 2 in at least 1 of 3 Act Ones (or more if I get lucky) I can enter a few Act Two's and hopefully win one. So for less than $100 the odds of getting a seat in the WPF Satellite is pretty good. Certainly should be able to qualify for less than $1,000. I figured I would budget $500 for Act One and Act Two to see if I can qualify. The live NL experience is good for me (I never have played a live NL tournament before, but have won a bunch of NL sit and gos online). Anyone else thinking about playing? | ||

| I would be interested in trying to qualify for that and would play some of these satellites. When are they and don't know of any info on these. Thanks for any info you can provide for me. | ||

| Every day from now until mid November they have the single table Act I and Act II tourneys. They start at 10:00 AM and run all day. You just sign up and when they get a full table you start. Sit and gos. So I would assume you can sign up, go play a ring game until they call the table. I am going in a few weeks on a Saturday morning (perhaps first weekend in July). I probably will play the 10:00 am Limit Holdem tournament ($25 buyin), then play an Act I and maybe an Act II. Personally, I am extremely excited to start playing live NL tournaments. | ||

| Steve: My name is Michael btw. July 12 is the day I was planning to go too! Would be great to meet up. they have a 10:00 AM Limit Hold em tournament there that looks like it is worth a punt (I have no idea the level of competition, but the buyin is small and the winner usually gets $3,000 - not bad). Let me know if you are definitely going. Would love to say "hello". | ||

| I have never played the Saturday morning limit tourney down there. I did just play in a Tuesday night no limit tourney. I was the last player allowed in the 200th. The Tuesday night is unlimited rebuys for $20 gets you 200 in chips which is what you start with. The rebuys last until the end of the 3rd round and then they have a add on where you can buy more chips $20 for 200 I think the most you can add on is 400. This makes the first 3 rounds real aggressive basically there is no penalty for getting knocked out. You can only buy back chips when you go below 200 in chips if you get busted out you can spend $40 for 400. I was there on June 10 the competition was pretty good. I did OK but I didn't have enough chips for when the 4th round started and things get real tight because if you go out then you're out for good. With all of the rebuys the total prize pool was around $20,000 with the winner getting around $7000. The Saturday limit is set up differently and there is only one rebuy which will get you 1000 in chips. So the prize money is not as big on Saturday. Thanks for the info on the satellites for the World Poker Finals. I will have to get down there and start playing in them soon. Good Luck down there. | ||

| Michael- I am definitely going down that day...just not sure if I will make it for the Limit tourny at 10. But, either way would love to say hello. Let's touch base here a few days before to set up a time. Steve | ||

| Awww, hell. Now I'm going to have to learn No Limit and drag my arse up there and take a crack at it. I've wanted to enter their early bird Limit tourneys for a while. Just have had the weekend where I wanted to get up at 7:00AM in order to make it there on time. Running all the way through November? Think I can pick up No Limit by then :) Beigs | ||

| Beigs, I am just learning NL and figure to take a few lumps in the tournaments. But I think experience is the only way to get better, right? I am a pretty good Limit Tournament player (IMHO) and have been playing NL sit and go's online (with okay success). This looks like a fun promotion and a way that I can measure myself year to year. When the Act I and Act IIs start seeming like childsplay, I guess thats when we know we are getting good. And c'mon, 7:00AM is a piece of cake. At least for me, my son gets me up at 6:00 am every day. Sleeping to 7AM for me is like a vacation. | ||

| Man, I'm only 25. Trying to wake up at 7AM is like trying to raise the dead. I do it every day and I still don't function until 11! Trying to motivate myself to get up, get on the subway, then get on a bus to Foxwoods, on a Saturday or Sunday no less, is a tough task indeed. No anyone with a car from NYC? | ||

| in the fall I will drive from NYC beigs, but in the summer I take the Ferry from Eastern Long Island. I have to take a 7:00 AM Ferry that gets me to New London at 8:30 AM. The tournament director said that to be guaranteed a spot on Saturday, you pretty much have to get there by 9:00 AM. 200 player cutoff as well. Buckeye Mike, sounds like the Tuesday Night NL is a blast (but alas, pretty darn difficult for a guy with a high stress job and kids to make). Saturday, my wife cuts me slack and poker has pretty much replaced golf (has been a lot more profitable too) and she is a trooper. I actually got her into watching some of the WPT events on TV. She isn't going to start playing but at least she gets what all the fuss is about. | ||

But with 3 kids 3 and under she doesn't allow me to leave the house except for work. ;) Now that I play online, she doesn't think I need to go to a casino. Can your wife call my wife? :) TKarrde "You fool! You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! The most famous is never to get involved in a land war in Asia. | TK: Sure, but if they talked we might get more than we bargained for :). Just b/c I get a pass every now and then doesn't mean I can do it every weekend. I have to pick and choose my spots. All I can say is "thank god for online poker". Its the savior of the married-with-kids player. Like anything else I enjoy (golf, football on tv, etc.) she would rather me lavish her with attention than my other interests. But hey, its life with me. She knew what she was getting (and hey, she has it pretty good too, so I doubt she would complain all that much). But, poker is a pretty serious mistress for me. So all things considered, my wife is definitely a real trooper. | ||

| I tell you what has been sweet. I use to play in the basement on my desktop. But then I decided to take the work laptop home with me and play. At the end of the evening after I have given all the girls a bath, I can relax on the couch with everyone AND play some hands. I've even been known to take it into the kitchen while I am making dinner or doing laundry or dishes. (But don't tell that to the serious players here, they tend to think you should watch ALL of the action at the table.) LOL TKarrde "You fool! You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!
