| It is always great when you have a session where everything you do seems to work. You are playing quality hands, your big pairs hold up all the way with multiple callers, you make some great laydowns, you are generally sharp. Well, that's what happened to me last night at a 3/6 game on Party. I won close to 50 BB's in a little over 2 hours where it seemed like I couldn't lose a hand in which I played. And you know the most interesting thing? I didn't do anything that special. No sexy bluffs, tricky limp re-raises or anything like that. Just good, solid, straightforward poker. THAT is what gets the money in the long run, especially at the lower limits. The moral: regardless of your results, always stick to your guns and play correctly. Against most competition, this type of play will increase your bankroll each and every year. | ||

| Good Morining Shorn, Glad to hear you had such a profitable session last night, good for you. You're right, you don't need to be fancy at the lower limits...just play solid cards and play them correctly. I agree, and that has worked well for me,as I too play at the lower limits when I play on line. 4P- | ||

| Thanks 4. Sometimes the stars align nicely for the good guys too and the "chasers" don't always take out their beating stick! Seriosuly though, the more I play LL online, the more I am convinced that it is a "nuts" type game (even in Hold'em) where trying to move others off hands with overcards will end up being a bankroll suck more than anything. My new mantra online is: nothing fancy, only play odds in your favor (no loose calls to advertise), if you miss the flop FOLD, and bet your good hands for value because you will get callers 90% of the time. One other thing...if you call in EP with high suited connectors (say AJs), and it is raised and re-raised behind you, FOLD. It is just not worth it to chase your flush and only a JJx flop is likely to win. | ||

| ......It's nice, isn't it? You've got the right attitude, shorn and I'm sure that approach you're taking will pay off very nicely. Again......good for you! 4P- | ||

| Define "sexy" bluff - Is that when you raise, glance seductively at the shy, but pretty 20-something gal in the 2 seat, and then lick your lips suggestively? If so, it's good you didn't use any of those, 'cause I suspect they wouldn't work very well online :P | ||

| Well, if it was someone as lovely as you (or so I have heard) , then yes that would be way sexy (and would only work in the B&M). Unfortunately, my mind wasn't in the gutter and I was talking about "poker" sexy. :) | ||

| Congrats Shorn on a good session. I was playing 3/6 on Party lastnight myself. I had a winning night but I didn't win as much as you did. Somewhere just below 20 BB's. You might have been the reason I didn't win as much. Maybe I ran into you. I had some ups and downs wasn't consistent enough for a really big night but I did come out ahead anyway. | ||

| Thanks. 20 BB's is a heck of a session too. Well done. I don't know if we were playing at the same table last night or not, but the fish were jumping in my pond, that's for sure (one guy raised me on the river with 93s when the flush card came and I had the nuts...gotta love it.). | ||

| shorn, i have tears in my eyes reading your post. I have had some monster nights recently too (after a bit of a dry spell) at Poker Room. The last 2 nights I was playing the $1-2 there and found a room where the average pot was $28!! Me and one other guy was just cleaning the table. I have also come to the same realization - bet hands for value, play hands when you have the best of it, don't chase with second pairs or fancy bluffs (although I have won many small pots on semi bluffs and bluffs but never a big pot). Of course, when you have position and you get a weird flop that a couple of fish check to you, by all means bet it out. They will usually fold. But most of these guys are going to call you to the river with anything. Better off just checking those hands and folding if they raise. Way to go shorn. I have contemplated moving to Party Poker and you are inspiring me. Anybody have fun over at UltimateBet? It seems as if Party has more ring action. | ||
