UPF Tournament Players,

I have written an e-mail to Dan Goldman, VP of Marketing for PokerStars about staging a rematch. Dan and PokerStars are very good about supporting events like BARGE, MARGE, SARGE and others.

When he replies, and I'm sure that he will, I will try and present him with our concensus about what we want in a tournament. So, it is time to build that concensus.

At this time I figure what we want is a reasonably priced No-limit Hold'em tournament with a lot of play. Definitely not a crapshoot. A tournament limited to people signing up on UPF.

I didn't follow the dicussion of what buy-in people thought would be reasonable, so I am open to suggestions.

Thanks,

Paul Stine

ps. Whoever that was calling me Mr. Stine, stop it! It makes me have to stop what I'm doing and look around for my dad.

Back when stdioh was organizing things, the majority voted for a $20 no limit hold'em tournament. Popular choices for sites were Party, Stars and Ultimate Bet.

And yes, having a lot more play, IMO, is mandatory. We want some REAL competition here, right guys?

Since PokerStars regularly has $20+$2 tournaments I would think setting one up for us would not be a problem.

So, I have one vote (Wren) for $20.

What ever you all come up with is fine. Just make it no-limit this time.

I think everyone was pretty good with a $20 buy-in.

So far we almost all agreed ...

$20 buy in
No Limit (this is key)
No less than 2000 in starting chips (this is also key)
UPF players ONLY
Re-occuring - Monthly

I think that is what i tally'ed from Stdioh orginal post!

Number of starting chips doesn't matter as long as it falls into line with blinds.

UB does T1000 tourneys where the blinds start at 5-10 and these are ok. T2000 would be better, of course, but I would say that the T1000, 5-10 is acceptable.

Well, let's get the first one set up and then worry about recurrence.

$20 buy in NL tourney on UB, Party Poker, or Poker Stars - that was certainly the majority voice. I never did tally up the final results as Mike Caro came in and told us where we would be playing.

Like I said, I'll also nose into True Poker and see if I can get us bonus prizes there - if that's possible then it'll be worth looking into. For that matter we should see if other sites are interested in same - i would imagine that it would be an easy way for a site to attract new members cheaply.

And thanks for the work Paul.

Poker Stars also already has "restricted access" tournaments and space for naming things appropriately.

I would imagine they would be willing to host a "United Poker Forum" restricted access multi-table tourney (limit, PL, or NL for that matter) where a representative from UPF could provide them with a list of players eligible to enter.

Of course I am assuming here you want UPF readers only.

UB can also do "Invitation Only" tourneys.
