I was playing short handed with my buddies like we always do. Texas hold'em with the 4 of us. The last time we had played I had noticed certain trends, that being that alot of people would play really agressively on the flop to find out where they stood. Betting out with middle pair, even bottom pair from my friend Tom who is the loosest amongst us. I also noticed, that the more savvy opponents would then fold their hand on hands with second highest pair if they received too much action on the flop, or if the same guy lead out on the turn. Of course sometimes people would just call to the river just in case their second highest would hold up. Anyhow, I figured that everybody was playing pretty predictably, and I didn't want to, so I randomized. My goal, to make more money on my strong hands. If i flopped top pair I would always bet out, if my paired pocket card was a club, diamond I would also raise any raiser on the flop. If my paired pocket card was a heart or spade, I would bet out but then only call the raiser on the flop, a bit of a "slow play." Not all that slow, but man my randomization worked wonders for making people call me against my "slower play" People didn't know what I had so I increased my profits. I know this probably isn't all that helpful for you 10 man ring players, but I just found that randomizing your play in a systematic way is neat. I had previously read an article somewhere about having a 'bluffing hand' so that if a person ever got a 35 of hearts he would bet it like it was pocket aces, thus hoping to either win, or get a wilder table image. Good day!
