| I just finished reading the Re: morals thread. I am heading to vegas on Saturday for the week and was nervous about playing alone in the card rooms. The situation described did little to abate my nerves, however, all your wonderful responses did. Do you suppose you could all come to Vegas next week and sit at my table? | ||

| Hey, You will be just fine. :) Most people think like us. It's funny, I was playing 4-8 at my B&M tonight, and had my own little moral dilemma; nothing of that magnitude, but enough to make me think, "What would 4 Poker do?" I was BB+1, and limped in on KhJh (which I shouldn't have done anyway, but that's beside the point). Anyway, the flop comes uncoordinated, with the high card being a 9. I'm gonna call a bet because of my overcards. The BB, to my right, is suddenly banging his left knee against my right knee repeatedly as he's betting out. I call... and I'm trying to figure out what he's doing. He's not stopping; I'm shifting a little and he's following me; obvoiusly trying to get my attention. The turn comes an A, so I give up... I'm gonna fold; the BB is betting out again. Now, I'm also getting that he's trying to tell me he's flopped a good one and I shouldn't call. I'm not gonna call anyway, but for my own reasons. Anyway, right after I muck, he flashes his cards, and they are pocket 9s. He's flopped a set. I know this guy, he's fairly regular there and really nice guy; but I'm pretty pissed. I just don't play that way. I'm not sure what to do; I figure I gotta get the message accross not to do that. The very next hand, I'm the BB, and I'm dealt 48o and see the flop for free, which comes 4Q8. Here's my chance. Sure enough, this guy bets out (obvoiusly with a Q) and I raise without so much as a hint that I was gonna do it. I hear him mutter something like "no payback, I guess you didn't like that." After I took down the pot, I lean over and tell him, "Next time, I'll give you up." "Fair enough," he says. Now I'm thinking, maybe I should have told a floorman before I left... I'm not so sure I did the right thing, but at least I get the message accross. I know I'll see him again, and you can be sure I'll have my eye on him. -Moz "Great. | Hey Moz, If someone tapped me on the knee as a clue to fold, I wouldn't call the floorman over but I would take him aside and tell him nicely that I'd really prefer to just play my hand honestly and with no help from anyone because it wouldn't be fair. He probably didn't intentionally mean any harm by it, so I wouldn't want to cause a big scene, it's really not necessary. You can also explain to him that when the two of you are in the hand together you prefer to just bet your hand, and may the best hand win.. But be nice about it Moz. There's no need to get him mad or create a problem for yourself either, just explain it nicely, say "no hard feelings", and move on......that's what I would do anyway. 4 POKER | ||

| Thanx 4, That makes me feel better. He didn't seem to take offense at what I said to him; he seemed to take it as a jab... but he also got the message and didn't try that again. :) -Moz "Great. I've got a trig midterm tomorrow, and I'm being chased by Guido, The Killer Pimp." | ||
