Looking at getting my account started. I read the posts about ways to protect your account (ie open up a poker account and use it as a cleringhouse). Very helpful. What are the top 3 sites to play on and who is offering the best sign-on bonuses, security measures, etc. Thanks for the help. DJpoker

Hey DJpoker,

I guess some of the more reputable sites would be the ones that have been around for awile. I wouldn't trust some of the newer and smaller ones, but that's just me.

Some of the better ones would probably be:

Party Poker....good bonuses.
Poker Stars
Paradise Poker

(I'm assuming that the other sites have good bonuses as well, I just don't play on those sites anymore, so I'm not 100% sure).

I prefer Party Poker over Paradise though. The games seem to be a little softer there from what I have noticed.

Good luck.

Paradise and Party for sit and go's ( ten people tourny's that last an hour ) and Pokerstars for bigger 200-300 sized tourny's ( they do ring games as well but i prefer the other 2 for that.

I would also say that sometimes the ring games at $.5-$1 at {Paradise can be tougher than the $2-4 +, my theory is that people who want to learn how to play play the lower limits and the mere fact they arent starting out higher means they will probably play better, but that is a made up theory !

small, medium or large ?

I prefer Ultimate Bet. But also have had good experience with Party, Paradise and Planet.

Good Luck

I like playing on www.ultimatebet.com - you can make depostis there by pretty much any conventinal means including netteller (from your bank account and regarded as safe) and directly from your visa or mastercard (so if something gets stolen you can get money back from the credit card provider through their insurance). The games are good and the tournaments are outstanding.

Paradise is great, lots of games going on all the time, but games can be tougher. I like their software and support best.

PokerStars is a must if you're a tournament player. Their multitable tourneys are a blast and have huge fields generating some great dough for final tables. Ring games aren't quite as popular. Software is a close Paradise in terms of quality.

Party Poker is hands down the best when it comes to action. For a long time Paradise was the leader in terms of volume, but they've recently been passed by Party. Big time! They're advertising campaign on the WPT has now given them a 2-1 edge in volume (and concomitant server issues) on Paradise on some days and most of it is fresh fish. Mmmmmmm. Party has always had a rep of having soft games, but since the ads have been airing, it's literally raining fish at this time. Not a big fan of their software, but who cares when the games are this good.
