| I was just wondering, I do this sometimes and am wondering if it is worth it or not. When a player about whom I don't know much raises me on the flop or does something other than just be passive. Sometimes I like to call him all the way to the river just to see what he was playing and thus: how he plays his flop. I want to see if he raises with top pair, or if he needs two pair to do it. I wouldn't do this if I knew I had no chance of winning whatsoever, but in a hand where I have say, top pair or something, is it a very good idea to call him down to the river just to see how he plays? I imagine it is better to let others do that, but sometimes it just falls upon you when your also holding top pair. I know it sucks to lose cash, but is it long term worth it or not? thanks | ||

| Generally you don't call someone down purely for information. But if you have other reasons for calling him down (you're hand might be good, you have a backdoor draw, you have reasons to suspect he's bluffing, you need to preserve your table image and not be regarded as a folder...
