I get the impression that the low limit holdem games at Poker Stars are pretty hard to beat.

What do you think?

ROTFLMAO!!!

There are literally schools of fish swimming around PokerStars these days.

I stick to the lowest limits and I regularly am up against 5-6 people who see the flop over 80% of the time. Often there is only one other player in the room who even sees the flop under 30% of the time. Just watch out for him a little and punish the idiots when you do get a hand.

Finally, have some prozac or something handy for the slew of bad beats you will suffer. It's no big deal actually though. Those suckers will pay your off two hands later for even more bets than you lost in the bad beat.

Pokerstars mode of opeation is to usually let you be a big winner when you make your initial buy-in. They eventually will take it all but you should be able to triple up over the first few weeks then run man run. Actually, there is a small chance online poker is legitimate but very little because they are unregulated. Hmmm, gambling site with no regulation. But assuming they are legit, then there are many other obstacles to overcome. Very experience players play online at low limits because the games play much higher than the limit indicates due to the number of hands they get out. The rake is a killer, just do the simple arithmetic of hands/hour x rake/hand (you will see that a couple of bankrolls a day go down the slot). The discipline required at B&M play has to be multiplied by 10 to survive online. You have constant access. You are playing teams of very experienced players trying to get you on tilt. It can be beat but it will not be consistently beat by individual players, even very good individual players.
