| ok- I really hesitated to post this story, because the fact that I derived such glee from it probably means that I am just a bad person. But it was terribly fun and satisfying. I had a rare opportunity to play an extra night at the B&M this week. I had only been playing a few minutes (3-6 hold'em) when a new player is sent to my table. I look over as he is sitting down and realize that this is one of only two people in this world that I truly despise. We work in the same building, and he did me wrong in a very big way about a year and a half ago. Anyway, I had no idea he even played poker, and was distressed to see him in my safe-haven. Of course, I am INSTANTLY on tilt and my ass is glued to the seat. My mind is reeling and I'm trying to figure out what to do. I'm thinking about just leaving, but that feels like defeat. I muck several hands in a row, knowing that I'm not thinking clearly enough to play them. So I'm getting more and more mad. Finally, I'm BB and check to see the flop for free with Ks Ts. There are 6 in the hand, including Bozo. The flop comes Js 9s 2h. We check around to Bozo and he bets, there's two callers after him, 1 fold, I raise (just because he bet, I know I have a flush draw, but don't even see the str8 flush draw at this point because I'm too focussed on Bozo). The guy between us folds and Bozo reraises. Now I'm pissed. The others all fold and I make it four bets, Bozo calls and we are heads up. The turn comes the Qs. I got a flush (still not seeing the str8 part) so I bet out. Bozo raises, I reraise, he calls. River comes a blank (I think it was 7c). That's when I take my first good look at the board and reaize I'm str8 flush to the K. I bet out, Bozo raises, I reraise. He's visibly pissed, but also very smug (so I finally figure out he's got AXs, turned out to be As 4s), and he re-raises. My B&M has a rule that if it's head's-up on the river, there is no cap. So I say to the dealer, "Hey, can I save some time going back and forth with the raises and push all in now?" The dealer says, "The other player has to agree." Bozo says, "Go for it, jerk. I'll take all your money if you want." So I push the rest of my chips, the dealer counts them down for a total of $75. Bozo has only $61 left (he had called a couple of blinds earlier and didn't have a full rack when this hand started), so I get $15 back. The look on his face was something I will never forget when he saw that I had him beat, he figured his nut-flush to be good. If I could have a picture of that look, I would frame it and hang it on my office wall. He had a few choice words for me to ignore while I calmly stacked all of my new chips; and said them loudly enough to get the floor people headed in our direction; but when the dealer asked him to calm down, he got up, cursed at the dealer, and left the casino. I actually apologized to the dealer and other players, explaining that there was more to that display than a simple hand of poker. I toked the dealer well and bought a round of drinks for the table. Honestly, I hope this guy never comes back, cuz I'm afraid if he's ever at my table again I'll either have Karma to pay off or I won't get so lucky while being on tilt. Anyway, that's my story. It was pretty wild... -Moz "Hey, your schwartz is as big as my schwartz." | ||

| Hey, You took his chips, good for you! He sounds like a real bozo in a poker game, too. Didn't he even stop to think that if he was holding the Ace high flush and you were willing to push all in, that just maybe you did have the straight flush? I don't know about you, but if I had the opportunity to have this guy in my game again; I would welcome him with open arms! Just try and put your feelings aside and just play your regular game; you'll take his money for sure. Nice win, Moz. 4 POKER | ||

Ya know, this is one of the great things about the straight flush, though. It's very well hidden, and even if another player sees it, they rarely believe you have it. -Moz "Hey, your schwartz is as big as my schwartz." | ||

| Awesome story. I wish some of the jerks at my work played poker so I could get that kinda satisfaction taking their money. BTW, what a dumbass, when you went all-in, I would've checked the board to make sure that I hadn't missed a str8 flush or quads or some other monster lurking. My guess is that he was on tilt too. Just a word of caution, it worked out this time, but don't let your emotions get ahold of you when you are playing, but you know that. I'm sure that your history with this guy was what did it. | ||

| >>>My guess is that he was on tilt too. <<< I think you are absolutely right. Of course, I have no real idea what kind of player he is either... until he sat down at my table, I never knew he played. -Moz "Hey, your schwartz is as big as my schwartz." | ||

| Great story. The kind of thing that only happens in movies. Be humble, though. First, this will only piss him off more. And secondly, the poker Gods will be happier with you. Still waiting for my first str8 flush, SKinner | ||

| Don't forget to send him an email, from your office email address, asking him "please let me know when you're going to play poker again." Then lock your door. | Well, it was a really sordid affair. Let's put it this way, I have been mad at him ever since my girlfriend at the time said to me, "I'm sorry I haven't returned your calls all weekend, but I was in bed with 'Bozo'. I hope we can still be friends." (Side note: 'Bozo' is not a real name, just a family-friendly one I use to protect myself. But then, you probably figured that out. =) ). -Moz "Hey, your schwartz is as big as my schwartz." | ||

| Just a shame he only had $61 in front of him (and $75 in front of you)!! :) TKarrde "You fool! You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! Besides, I felt bad they they had to withness that kinda crap. Of course, I was thinking this makes me look a LOT better than him. ;) -Moz "Hey, your schwartz is as big as my schwartz." | ||

| I want to be smiled on!!!! Monday night I was playing 3/6 when someone made it $6 to see the flop. I was in late position with 9-10 of clubs and wimped out. There were enough callers to justify the call, but I decided to play tight and skip the hand. The flop comes K-7-8 of clubs. There is a round of betting with raises. The turn brings the J of clubs which would have given me my first straight flush ever. The person who raised before the flop had A-A with one of the aces being, yes, the Ace of clubs. I bet I could have reeled in a huge pot. It would have been great. Anyways, great story Moz. If you ever make it on the WPT, maybe you'll get to tell your story to a national audience. | ||

| One of the poker rooms I have been to had the same rule. I about went back and forth with a guy having the nut flush until it dawned on me that there was a pair on the board. So I checked it up only to find that he had the J-high flush. Dang it! TKarrde "You fool! You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! | That's interesting. I don't know of any cardroom that doesn't allow that. As long as your heads up, there is no cap...at least at all the cardrooms that I have been to. 4 POKER | ||
