| $10 NL tourney at Paradise. There are seven players left, and I'm dealt KK in the SB. Chip leader/button is to my right (about 2,200) and the rest of us have similar-sized stacks. I'm just under 1,300. All fold to the button, who raises for 300. I make it 800 to go, he calls. Flop comes JJ8. Button bets 500, and I figure I'm commited to this pot, hoping he has an 8 or overcards. I push the rest in, and he turns over J9o. No help, and I'm sunk. Button said afterward that he was trying to steal the blinds. Fine ... but I wasn't raising to 800 for my health. Is there any prevention plan in place when going up against players that are this stupid? | ||

| There is somewhat. Since you are committing to the hand, you should just push all-in before the flop. At least this way the player on the button with the chip lead has to decide whether he wants to risk his stack going down to everyone else's size. | ||

| Andrew is exactly right You want to be the aggressor with a good hand. As Brunson said, "the key to no limit hold'em is to put the other guy at a decision for all his chips" mark | ||

| If you are committed anyway, just go all-in. In a recent tourney, I was trying to steal with AJo, a guy with KK's just called. The flop came K-rag-rag, so I went all-in on a bluff, since I was extremely low anyway. He, calls with his set of K's, and I end up making runner runner to a wheel on the rag cards and winning the hand. Yes, I got really lucky, but what would have happened if he had played more aggressively? If he had reraised before the flop, there is no way I would have tried to bluff the pot. If he then bet the flop after I had checked, I would've folded and tried to wait for one more semi-decent hand to go all-in. By playing slow, he invited me in for the suck out. | ||
