UPF Tourney - Cut off date??, Risky Business, 11. Jun 2003 12:59 | ||

| Is this a tourney that can fill up? (I saw 300 from someone). Shall we set a cut off time/date? I'm wondering how we'll ALL know who is from UPF. There is obviously strategy to consider when there are only 2 UPF players left. Are we going in blind to whoever signs up as late as possible, and therefore, we should not have revealed anyone's name!!! No wonder nobody has signed up yet. | ||

| Although I am appreciative of Mike and of Planet for the additional prizes and such, I think that there are some fundamental problems with us piggybacking on another tourney in this manner. I think that unless this goes extremely well, we should think about arranging a seperate environment for future tournaments. That said, lets get on there, give it a go, and just have fun. As for the incentive of there being 2 players left, I think that winning the tournament would be enough incentive. The book is a nice bonus, but I certainly wouldn't stop playing and try to wait out my opponent, sacrificing a good money finish just in order to get the top UPF prize. I'd still fight for the top of it and I think that is sound strategy. I consider the UPF prizes to be a nice bonus and mostly for bragging rights. | ||

| I totally agree with Stdioh here. I think we should play this Tourney and see how it goes. Especially seeing as Mike, Roy, and Rhonda have been so gracious with their time in setting it up. As for the Futura, I would love to see a UPF "only" Tourney. UPF players pit against each other, dueling for the kwon. (... and Bragging rights) Let me work on it and see what I can find out. I will make someone an offer they can't refuse. (This quote thing is kinda fun) Scrubbie "I would rather be Rich, then Stupid" | ||

| Of course we're playing the tournament. No issue there. I'm talking about a UPF players list, that may not be complete until registration is complete. I don't think Rhonda should be the only person to have it (reason below) At worst, since we are all supposed to check in with her to be eligible for the UPF bounties, I think a mass email after registration closes would be appropriate. (not even asking for UPF names, just tournament handles) For some of us, placing in the top 10 on the UPF list is more attainable than placing in the top 10 for the whole tournament. (I fully expect my brethren to do us proud though, and fill up that top 10 long after I'm gone) Thank you and have a pleasant tomorrow. | ||

| Sorry Risky, I didn't mean to undermine your original comment about getting an e-mailed list. I totally agree with you there. (Boy, I sure am in an agreeable mood today) I think we should get a list of all of the UPF players, before the Tourney, (which I think Rhonda is going to do), and also a list of how everyone placed afterward. (Like Risky mentioned) I also think it will suck if the Tourney fill up before everyone gets a chance to enter. Scrubbie "I would rather be Rich, then Stupid!" | ||

| Yeah, I think that's why it's open to registration so early. Nobody else is looking for a June 18th tournament today.......except us. I don't think it will fill up either, yet if someone registers 10 minutes before registration ends, how will the rest of us know? We won't, because Rhonda is going to be out on the town on a Wednesday night, while we dorks are going to be frying our brains watching monitors and calculating odds. Nevermind, I can see this is going nowhere fast. | ||

| Hmmm... here is a thought. How about everyone in the tourney sign into a new thread that gets posted Wednesday night about an hour before the toureny. Give your PP userid and if you like your UPF name too. I keep putting off getting money in my PP account. I better get on the ball. TKarrde "You fool! You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!
