| Please forgive me for posting here, but I am desperate. I cant play online til I get my sound back because I dont want to hold up the game. W/o the audible prompts I would hold up the game. No sound on Windows Media Player either. Unplugged cords and replugged them back in, but I cant get it going. Any computer types out there that can give me some advice? I would appreciate it very much. Thanks in advance. Don Quixote | ||

| Hey- Are you using a Windows OS? If so, look for a little speaker in the system tray on the lower-right. Double-click that and make sure none of the "mute" boxes are checked. That's the only thing I can think of off hand. -Moz "Leave the gun. Take the cannoli." | ||

| Plug a set of head phones into the back of the computer where your speakers are plugged in. Play a cd and see if you hear anything. This will accomplish 2 things... 1) If there is sound, it's your speakers and not your computer. 2) If there isn't sound, there's a good chance that it's your computer. If it ends up being your computer, you probably installed a program recently that effected your sound driver. You'll need to reinstall your driver to get your sound back. You should have an installation cd that came with your computer. | ||

| I dont have a set of head phones, but you gave me an idea. I put on a CD, but it didnt put out any sound except a little buzzing. That may mean something to you, but I am a big dummy, so doh. I will check the installation CDs as you suggested. Maybe that will help. Thanks for the assistance Don Quixote on 10. | I am not very computer literate, but there should be a way on your computer to check to make sure all drivers are working properly. This is my best suggestion... go to START go to ALL PROGRAMS go to ACCESSORIES go to SYSTEM TOOLS go to SYSTEM INFORMATION go to COMPONENTS go to SOUND DEVICE once there you should see your sound driver information. Check the STATUS of the sound driver. If it is working correctly, it should say OK. Hope that helps you out. | Granted, we make good money telling people to restart, but we don't get the personal satisfaction like you do at your job getting to say, "You want fries with that?". *Just kidding* Scrubbie IT Geek | ||

| This looks like a post for the not quite poker section. But to answer your question, get a pair of headphones and plug them into the back of your computer into your sound card ... then you will know if the problem is with your speakers or not. Note that there are at least 3 correct sized plug back there. You want the one that is colour coded in green. Make sure that the sound is on in windows and that nothing is muted. | ||
