When are the best times to play online? Do you notice a difference in difficulty of game based on what time it is. Please especially comment on Paradise and Party.

Well, my experience has been very limited, but I've found (so far) that the best time to play is late in the evening. Between 10pm-2am EST. There are a lot of games to choose from then and the casual players are getting their fix before they go to bed.

Steven, it depends (always wanted to say that :-) )

Anyway, it really does depend on what limits you are playing at. I can speak only to $.50/1. limits since that is all that I play. My stats for 2,000 games so far this month at Paradise indicate that the best times are up until about 8:00 p.m. EST. This is not to say that the game isnt beatable after 8:00 if you play good solid poker, disregard the bad beats which you will experience at this limit. IMHO playing premium-like starting cards will carry you through, assuming you play good post flop, etc.

At Party Poker. I played 5,000 games there in May, and it appears that the information above also applies

Your mileage may vary; but if you play GSP with discipline and patience, you will do fine. If you are really good and can play more than one table at a time, you might surprise yourself at your win rate.

Hope this helps.

I prefer to play with Europeans rather than playing with Americans - not that I find Europeans and better or worse card players, but better for conversation, etc. It is very rare that you find a European doing silly things in the chat window, etc. Thus I like to play late at night.

I prefer early morning to mid-afternoon, primarily because the games are not so volitile. There are fewer crazies during those times and my variance (probably my winnings too...) is smaller; I get sucked out less often and the players are a bit more predictable.

There is much more $$ to be won in the evenings, because there is a higher percentage of fish, but I tend to get tired and it's harder to focus on beating them and not going on tilt when I've just had 5 bad beats in a row... =)

from 8-12 definately has the best selection in games, and the most fish, but some of the crap people will draw out on you on will make you go crazy if they hit. I've actually found that playing during the day against a lot of stay at home parents can be profitable because they are often weak and there just to kill time.

I say play when you feel the best because there will always be at least one crazy game at the limits you want on the major sites. I am generally not too good past Midnight0, but in Vegas that is when to play.

I agree with Shorn.
Play when YOU are at your best because the actual time thing doesn't apply as much when you're playing on-line poker because there are people from all over the world who play and the times of day will be different because of that.

I play in the Omaha 8 game on Party Poker and I have noticed that there are a few more players that will start playing at the same time everyday(around 9a.m), and they seem to know each other as well; I think they're from Vegas, and will only play for a short period of time and will try and make a quick score and then leave.
So because of that, I'll usually play a little bit later in the day or I'll check out the hold-em games, but like Shorn said, there's always going to be a good game to play in regardless of the time.

party's new software tells you how many players are online. When there are more than 5500 the site starts to act crazy.....delays, dropped connections, etc. I try to avoid playing, especially in tourneys where a disconnect can cost you your buy in, with that much volume. Hopefully they will fix this soon as I prefer their gameplay over other sites.
