Reading all the hand analysis on this forum has been great and i really appreciate everyones help with my and everybody elses game, but of course the foundation of good strategy is normally learned through books. How many books on poker have you guys read? Myself i am at 6 and have just put in a order at the book store for super system, which i imagine will take me quite some time as its enormous.

I have read about 12 books so far, and have re-read most of them. I am laways looking for a fresh perspective on the same ideas because IMO the key to the game (and becoming a great player) is the ability to alter your play according to the situation. Each player has his/her own thoughts on how to play a certain hand and most of the time, there will be a situation where each idea can be applied as the optimal play.

Bond,

I have about 20 in my library.

I try to re-read at least one book at month, maybe more if I am going to play in a tournament and need a refresher.

Reading the books is the best time and $$ I have spent so far on poker!

Is Super/system worth tracking down? Some people have said that the games have changed so much since it was written that it pretty outdated.

Where can I find it? It's out of print, no?

I think Super System is a great book; it's still one of the best out there to this date.

Depending on where you live, if you live near a city that has poker, you might be able to find it at a local gambling book store.
There's one in Atlantic City and there's one in Vegas as well- both stores carry this book.
If you're not near any of the gambling cities then you can check out the back pages of cardplayer magazine and order it through them.

some still regard it as the bible.

Whether a book is "right" or "wrong" comes down to personal styles alot of the time. For NLH, supersystem teaches a very loose aggressive game. Some people can't pull off a very loose, very aggressive style of game, and therefore regard the information as "wrong" or "outdated".

If you decide not to play this way, you should at least be very aware of the style of play and look for it in "loose" or "crazy" opponents.

There are alot of books out there with bad information, this is not one of them.

I just went to my local book store (barns and noble) yesterday and they were able to order it for me so it'd be there in 3 to 8 days, so i imagine it can't be to hard to get.
